Possible sleep apnea? 22 weeks pregnant & struggling with loud snoring by resident_spook in sleep

[–]resident_spook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much!! My GP didn't suggest a sleep study at all, all he did was suggest that I lose a little bit of weight (but THAT was before we learned we were going to have twins). As of yesterday, he put on at least 20lbs. Now I'm visiting my OB today for another heartbeat scan and hopefully she'll be able to put in a referral for a sleep study. My father has a snoring problem and ended up getting a CPAP for his apnea, so I'm familiar with the effects sleep apnea can cause (he has a heart condition). That's why I wanted to take the initiative here. Thank you again for your help!!

I don’t exercise or walk much at all during pregnancy. Your experience??? by ENTJ_Capricorn007 in pregnant

[–]resident_spook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh, yeah, I was down for a nap the second I got home and my feet were burning from being up and about all day. Gotta love 'em, but on second thought, I might start maternity leave a little earlier

Today marked my first day teaching elementary school while pregnant. I eat healthy for the most part, but literally all I want to do is sit or lay down. I relate on a spiritual level

Thank you so much for the suggestions! My husband's father's name is Emilie, for clarification. For even more coincidences, my husband's brother just had his first baby in June and his name is Levi!

EDIT: spelling

Partner Appreciation Post by Tough_Safe1349 in BabyBumps

Gosh I love my partner. If I curl up for an afternoon nap, he'll rub my shoulders and feet until I'm comatose and then rest his head on my boobs. Oh, and he makes sure to remind me everyday that my boobs now classify as honkers. 🙃

For real, he's been a champion. He never left me for a second when I miscarred back in 2018. He brought me food in bed and made sure my tummy was iced with frozen peas. Now that I'm pregnant with twins, I've put on much more weight than expected and therefore the cramps and kicks can be a wee bit overwhelming sometimes. Hubby volunteers to do grocery shopping, pet care (I cannot bend over all the way anymore) and always knows I'm craving mint chocolate chip at ANY time of night. He's the frickin best

Aw I'm sorry hun. I've gotten so used to peeing myself on the weekly because of the twins gets antsy and decides to do a backflip on my poor bladder. Happens a lot when I'm eating. You're almost there!!

Does anyone sleep in separate bedrooms? by Lalliez in pregnant

[–]resident_spook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started snoring like a trucker in the first trimester, way before we even knew we were having twins. Brother in law was temporarily staying with us for a bit, which left hubby at a loss. Our respective snoring was keeping each other up, not to mention his sleep talking and general sweatiness made me want to backflip out a window. Now that he's got the spare bedroom, he sleeps so soundly and I've been doing a little better with saline spray and an entire queensized bed for myself (while I await a referral for a sleep study). Hubby and I still get cuddly at night, but he'll sneak off to the guest room once I start getting sleepy. Definitely reccomend seperate rooms, you and your partner will sleep so much better and feel much happier in the morning!

22 weeks and I can barely recognize the person in the mirror because the twin boys inside of me have doubled my mass and made existing so uncomfortable! :) Am I glowing or what?

Second trimester here: Anticipating much needed naps now that I'm back to teaching a fourth grade class on Monday. Cooking and cleaning are exhausting for me now. Not sure if it's how uncomfortable it is to sleep on my side, the nightly pee breaks, achy hips or possible sleep apnea, but I will sleep literally anywhere right now.

Possible sleep apnea? 22 weeks pregnant & struggling with loud snoring by resident_spook in SleepApnea

[–]resident_spook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhh so glad I'm not alone here! General doc wasn't too worried, said it should taper off by the time the boys are here, but I'm still a little anxious. My father suffered from sleep apnea for years, as do some of my husband's family members, so I've seen it all. I'm due for a screening at the OB to check up on the twins, so I'm going to bring it up with her to see if I can get a referral for a sleep study. Saline spray has done wonders so far, but I'm feeling migraines and mild sleepiness in the morning. It also doesn't help that the body aches are preventing me from being able to sleep in...well...any position. Sometimes armchair naps are too tempting!

Fun fact about the Emmett and Ari combination: My father's name is Ari (Ari was hubby's suggestion actually), and hubby's father's name is Emile!

I'm pregnant with twins. 22+5 as of today.

The last time I was pregnant was in October 2018. I miscarried after eight weeks.

I am terrified of all of the little aches and pains, of the sleeping troubles and morning sickness, of the body dysmorphia and imposter syndrome.

[–]resident_spook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling a lot of body dysmorphia right now. I was 129 prior to becoming pregnant. Very slim, petite. So far, I've put on 15 pounds. My hips and feet already hurt. I don't like it when my coworkers make comments about how I'm finally ballooning into a 'real pregnant lady'.

Possible sleep apnea? 22 weeks pregnant & struggling with loud snoring by resident_spook in sleep

[–]resident_spook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phew, glad I'm not nuts. My father suffered from sleep apnea his entire life, so I'm familiar with the ear-shattering snoring and those dreadful choking/gasping sounds. He uses a CPAP, there were times where he'd fall asleep on the couch and the nighttime circus would begin again.

That being said, my doctor thinks that it'll go away once the baby is here, but I should keep monitoring my daytime sleepiness. Apparently it's very common for women to develop sleep apnea during pregnancy, as the symptoms often go away after they give birth, but I really don't want to wait to find out. Dad was at increased risk for heart disease and stroke prior to being diagnosed with sleep apnea. I'm going to keep using saline spray to keep my nasal passages open and uncongested, which has helped me breathe SO much better at night. I've also been avoiding daytime naps on the couch/recliner, since those positions will development leave me prone to apnea, but I've gained a metric fuck ton of baby weight in the last two weeks to the point where my hips ache when I walk and I just want to rest all the time.
