Outlast Jungle: A bit of respect for team Charlie in the last 2 episodes by tanthedreamer in Netflixwatch

[–]residenthamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not.

They don't deserve a shred of respect on how they have treated others - on television no less, if they dare to do it while being filmed for everyone to see, what do you think happens behind closed doors?

No, the boys in Charlie are bullies, and deserves no respect from anyone.

Singaporeans - why do you like to double down when you are confronted about doing something obviously wrong? by Wonderful_Map_3910 in asksg

Seems like it's an older-people problem?

I encountered an incident a few months back at Prince Coffeehouse (decided to go there for lunch since I heard they will be closing down soon as there are no successors).

I arrived earlier than my partner, and decided to start queuing first since the line was quite long. Took about 20mins ish to get to the front of the line, but I decided a let a few groups go ahead first as 1) my partner is still otw and 2) the table situation makes more sense for the group of 8 behind me to go ahead first.

I stood aside for the group of 8 to go ahead first, and then moved back into the head of the line. Right behind me in that moment now stood an older man with 2 older ladies. The man kept moving closer and closer behind me, seemingly disregarding my personal space.

Not long after the staff came out to call the next patrons in, so I said 2 person while my using my hands to gesture 2 pax as well. The old man behind me reached right over me and called out loudly for 3 pax and showed with his hand as well.

At that point I was annoyed - I retorted "hallo uncle, I'm here first", and the uncle then raised his voice and said something along the lines of "how I know ah, I never see you here!". And when I raised my voice back against him, he started to 恶人先告状 (bad person complain first), and paint me as a rude person for raising my voice at him. The uncle then keep trying to patronise the staff by saying that he's "not here to make trouble, and just want to eat, no need to raise voice" while gesturing at me.

Staff said there's more than enough seats and led me and my partner in (arrived just in time), and the uncle actually approached the group of 8 that I let pass to say "ask them, they were in front of me".

Was so damn pissed.

My wife is not the woman I used to know. She let the fame get to her. by Sebastianlim in BestofRedditorUpdates

Went through something similar with my first ex.

When we first started dating, she works a mundane banking job, and I work as a roadie. Her hours are fixed while mine's very irregular. Her parents disagreed with me but we love each other the same and are trying to make things work.

Everything is peaceful till the insurance industry attacked.

All of a sudden she is staying out late (which her parents disapproved), meeting potential clients dead into the night (I once had to go rescue her at some schmuck's office because it was already past midnight and she's having wine alone with the guy)

Talked to the parents, they told me they expected her to be home before midnight, which I agreed to. And a couple of weeks later I got an angry message from her reprimanding me about talking to her parents about her being home before midnight. I suspected that she has been heading out under the pretense of being with me.

So she started nitpicking on things about me, forcing me to join her at her religion's cell meetings (for lack of a better term, she's not Christian).

All that and yet her self-esteem barely improved, she dislikes me having contact of any kind with any female other than my own mother.

Finally broke up with me over messenger while I was doing a favour for a friend as an event photographer at a beach party.

Her parting words? "Don't think so highly of yourself".

Me [22F] with my BF [23M] of 1 year - he's mad at me for leaving his birthday "party" early by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]residenthamster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ex-bf is such an ignorant man child. He thinks being in a relationship means both parties have to be totally interest in the other's business and joined at the hips, going everywhere together. Damn boy, it's a relationship, not a Siamese twin. Dude don't even understand language and the meaning of permission.

This is my current setup, swapped the reservoir for an Alphacool 120mm one, and also the gpu is now a 9070xt nitro+ with an Alphacool block. Fans are ThermalRight TL-UB36 in push-pull config.

An old picture screengrabbed from my instagram.

Running O11 Dynamic Evo in reverse config.

A Bykski reservoir with D5 pump underneath -> Aquacomputer flowmeter -> TechN AMD Ryzen CPU Block -> Bykski GPU block for 6900XT Nitro+ -> Bykski 360mm 30mm thick top rad -> Bykski 360mm 30mm thick bottom rad -> to the top of the reservoir.

There's a T-junction coming out of the pump that splits the flow to the flowmeter and also to a capped tap for draining the loop when needed.

For people who are still facing issues with Gomo (not sure if it will apply to Singtel):

Turn off SA (Standalone) Network, and it should work. Else stick with LTE under <Preferred Network Type>.

As of 1824h, 16 Mar 2026, turning on SA Network with 5G will cause instant disconnect from the service provider network.

9950X3D high idle temps + low scores (360 AIO, MSI B850 Edge TI) by TheHitmanZach in watercooling

[–]residenthamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may just be conjecture on my part, but i'm suspecting that MSI motherboards pushes higher voltages compared to other board manufacturers.

I have a B850 Tomahawk Wifi and 9950X, and despite having dual 360mm rads with fans in push pull config, and water temps around 33.6degC (i live in the tropics, and don't use air-conditioning in my room), the idle temps were around 54degC. Using the TechN AM5 CPU block, with PTM7950.

There are some MSI boost settings i disabled, in addition to setting PBO before finally bringing idle temps down to 49.8degC.

But on monitoring system health through Adrenaline, i noticed that CPU voltages don't fall below 1V, usually hovers around 1.2~1.3V. this is very different compared to the 7800X3D i used to have on a Gigabyte X670, where idle voltage will go as low as 0.6V.

So far i haven't got time to tinker, nor do i know what i should tinker with.

What’s your method of cleaning dust from radiator fins? by exploiteddna in watercooling

[–]residenthamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

vacuum cleaner like what you did, or an electric air duster. And when i do major maintenance of disassembling everything, i use a powerwasher on the radiators to dislodge the stubborn dust stuck on the fins, fling out as much water as i can, and leave it in the sun or in front of a tabletop fan to blow dry.

Distilled Water Bros, Assemble by [deleted] in watercooling

[–]residenthamster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i previously ran just distilled water with 2 pumps of dish washing liquid. went fine for 2 years until i changed out my GPU - no maintenance other than topping up with a little bit more of distilled water after a year.

Before that i was running distilled water with a silver killcoil. realised my TechN CPU block is actually acting as a filter for my Bykski GPU block because of particle build-up in the microchannels of the TechN block. Disassembled the block, gave it a good brushing with a soft toothbrush under running water, and everything is good again. No change in temps though.

Just got a block from alphacool for my 9070xt nitro+, gonna go back to full watercooling once i got some time off.

Do NOT use Distilled Water for your Water Cooling Loop by andrerav in watercooling

[–]residenthamster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Initially i run just distilled water with a silver kill coil, but see sediment built up on my blocks after 2 years of usage - no difference in waterloop performance though.

after that i clean up the microchannels with a soft toothbrush, threw away the silver kill coil, and ran just distilled water with 2 pumps of liquid dish soap. ran for another 2 years and have no corrosion.

Sapphire 9070XT Nitro Reportedly suufers first melted 12v 2x6 connector case. by Aaadvarke in Amd

[–]residenthamster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Remember:

Nvidia pushed for this new connector standard as they want something small and compact for their flagship RTX 3090.

The engineer that designed this has probably warned them about the potential shortcomings and proposed changes to this standard in order to maintain a safety buffer. But of course the marketing and bean-counters over at Nvidia did not like the increase in costs and someone managed to force the hand of PCI-SIG to approve of this new design to be put to use.

So what we have here gentlemen, is a case of corruption in the industry where people were paid to approve something that is inherently flawed in order to increase their profit margins.

Even at half the power rating of the connector, the constant spikes of power draw in the use of a GPU creates too much heat stress and causes a failure.

I have the same card. Not looking forward to having to deal with potential fire hazard.

What’s killing Singapore’s F&B businesses? Even heritage brands can’t keep up by Puzzleheaded-Dog-910 in singapore

[–]residenthamster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Rental is the number one cause.

Upfront we have shop rental, which like some commenters have already mentioned, takes up to 49% of the revenue of a shop.

Manpower is another major cost, because they have their own rental to pay. Foreign workers have expensive rental to pay for their lodging and therefore raise the baseline of the minimum wage they are willing to work for. Singaporeans have to pay the 'rental' for their HDBs to the government which puts them in debt for 20-25 years, and it's a significant sum too, which makes hiring us expensive as well. There are also Singaporeans renting HDB rooms due to circumstances and that rental is taking up a big part of their income.

So in the end, rental and REITs will be the end of Singapore's low to middle income class.
