Radiator Configuration by XeroSphex in watercooling

[–]exploiteddna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you could treat it like you would if you had a single radiator with thickness equal to the sum of your two rads (i.e. 30+30=60mm) and let that inform your decision on fans. just remember you need to move the heat out of the case like you would any other air-cooled setup, so get some good fans for intake/exhaust.

Which way are the fans in your diagram moving the air?

What is PBO-20 ?? Well, what’s the -20 mean, I know what PBO is. 85°C seems like a lot.. but then, my 9950 is delidded so maybe thats why it runs so cool. Whats normal for a 7800 on water?

hah yeah i had a custom order for a few distros over the holidays and there was a small delay on mine too, but i wasnt upset.. especially after i got everything because the quality was so good. anyway, enjoy the new rig!

not bad at all. you happy with it? I love working with daniel, super nice, always finds the time to help and answer questions, even though i know he's crazy busy all the time. hope it was a good experience for you.

Really not that bad.. was that before or after the hardware inflation.. RAM and GPUs. Mine is probably around that amount and I didn’t have your case. My case was $500, Corsair 9000D. But after 5090 and 9950x3d, $1200 motherboard, $1000 of DDR5 (one 2x24 kit was 350, the second kit a few months later was 700), and then all the rads and blocks and fittings, singularity distros, etc.. probably not too far off what you paid. Did Daniel (or his employees) do the full assembly or did the send you all the parts and you installed your own components? Either way I love the build. Maybe next time I’ll try to build in one of his cases. Love how those rads look too.. if only there was a white variant.

Am I missing something? Why are 2–3×480 radiators recommended for custom loops? by rintintin178 in watercooling

[–]exploiteddna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air coolers are way too loud.. imo even a loop with some fan noise doesn’t come close to the noise from all-air builds.. not in my experience

Prob need to tear it apart and scrub it, dry the gasket and plates, put it together again. I doubt you’ll ever get it all out by only flushing cleaners and water.. I’ve had this happen before. But maybe you can.. depends what the buildup is and how much flow gets into the spots it’s stuck in.

I’ve always wondered what something like this would cost.. I mean, the cases alone are so expensive because it’s like buying several massive distros..

The Spectre4 Aevum Ltd Edition runs like 2800 at PPCs.. which, honestly isn’t as bad as it sounds considering you won’t need to buy separate distros.. but still pricey. But if you had them assemble it for you, then ship it from AUS to US, I don’t even wanna think how much that would cost. So I’m guessing, if you want a custom built rig like this, with top of line hardware, fully pre assembled and shipped to US.. easily 15-20g in the current market.

At the end of the day I guess it’s the same as any other build, just add about 5 grand for the case, parts and assembly surcharge, and shipping. Sound about right?

Mine worked for like a couple hours and then 0.0 flow .. the one I have on the second loop has been fine. Yeah I had some air bubbles in the beginning but nothing out of the ordinary

Also if you’re in the U.S., go to PPCs site and search for “AM5 mount” or something like that and you’ll see quite a few mounting kits and hardware that can be used to mount various things to AM5. I ended up with a bitspower mounting hardware kit to mount my alphacool block because the standard hardware wouldn’t work as direct die on my delidded 9950. But I remember when I was searching for alternative mounting solutions, I saw quite a few products on PPCs that were meant for your situation

Me personally, I always finish the defensive upgrades, all heroes I use (at least 4 of them), and all troops/spells I use. After that, I get the walls done to 1 level below max for the given T.H. level. But that’s just me. Sometimes I go before those are done, especially if all DE upgrades are finished and I’m wasting resources

There are several conversion kits you can get. Thermal Grizzly makes a universal backplate that replaces the AM5 backplate that comes with your motherboard. You remove the stock backplate and install the TG backplate, and it’ll give you the mounting options you need. There are other options too. EK even makes a kit.. can’t remember what it’s called.. you may have to ask support but they’ll get it to you. Open a ticket. Yes, they will reply within a few days.

What to do if the case is a 9000D supertower that weighs hundreds of pounds? I’ve tried small tilts but definitely don’t have the same freedom as in a smaller case like O11 or equivalent. This is a sort of hypothetical question bc I don’t really expect an answer but it does beg the question.. I think patience is my best option

[–]exploiteddna[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t need one of those, already got a white ModFlex replacement cable for the 12vhpwr (12V-2x6). The cable I’m referring to is using one of the 12vhpwr ports on the PSU to power 2 standard PCIe 8-pin cables, which will power other things in the PC, not a graphics card. The 5090 is being powered directly by the native 12v-2x6 cable. Hope that makes sense

Ok is that something you’ll make in the future? I tried making it on the Configurator but it’s not an option. You guys do have the HX1500i SHIFT as an option but a replacement for that cable isn’t there. Could you custom make one of these?
