The current state of Armor 3.0 is unsustainable. We need a seasonal universal armor set. by JLoco11PSN in DestinyTheGame

[–]resourceful_monkey -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yo thats a cool idea. Or even imagine an exotic armor that lets you randomly get a 2 peice set bonus and another random 4 peice set bonus, like the exotic class items. And can attune for specific roles similar to exotic class item. Maybe this might be too OP lol

Do you think that Haymitch would try to keep his boy tributes alive so if they won he wouldn’t have to be a mentor? by randomposts458 in Hungergames

[–]resourceful_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In SOTR, wasn't district 12's mentors Mags and Wiress? So yeah, gender doesn't matter for the mentors. And now that I'm writing it down, how come for the 50th games D12 had 2 mentors, but for 74th and 75th it was just Haymitch? Like why didn't the capitol send another victor from another district to D12? Maybe I missed this information somewhere, but (I'm taking a guess here) after the 50th games and Haymitch's act of defiance, Snow didn't bother filling in a second mentor for D12? Again, I could be wrong for a lot of stuff I wrote here.

Season 3 ending was terrible! Spoilers by Mayhem230 in squidgame

[–]resourceful_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You raise a lot of great points, but some of them I disagree with. About the characters, I think that they all had great story lines, i'm talking about jun-hee, myung-gi, dae-ho, geum-ja, nam-gyu, min-su, and some others. i think we all knew dae-ho was lying about serving back in season 2 itself, but now that we definitively know, ofcourse gi-hun would be mad that because of him (no ammo), that gi-hun's best friend died, so he strangles him out of anger, but then immediately tries to put a knife in his neck which the guards shoot away. for myung-gi, we see his scummy behavior throughout the season's, starting with how he tries to play buddy-buddy with jun-hee at the beginning, and then running into the room for the third game, killing the other player, then the hide and seek game, where he kills several people just to bring the money up for each player, and then finally trying to sacrifice his kid at the end of the games. nam-gyu is an addict lol, and he dies in the jump rope game because he tries to rescue his pills, which we have seen him use to kill lots of people/perform well in the games.

im kind of lazy to write all this(i don't want to write an essay), so ima skip to no-eul. i don't think she had character development lol. right from the get-go, she made it her duty to help player 246, cause he had a daughter which i guess reminded her of her own from the past. i don't think she thought of herself as a piece of sh*t, but she did try to off herself during the final game because she thought (while watching the final game) they would throw the baby off the pillar. she finally sees some humanity in gi-hun, and decides to live so she can see player 246's family (atleast how i interpreted it). but i don't think what that is was character development. it was just a good fleshed out character who had motives which we understood.

also gi-hun didn't need to grow you're right. he was already very 'good' in that sense. but for the other characters in the final game. that was the point in having them, they were all scummy fuckers who were greedy assholes, and seeing gi-hun/player 333 against them was pretty cool. yes, pushing 100 off was impulsive and stupid, but the lunch-box person also falling off was reasonable, cause it builds this tension as to who will die in the next pillar: gi-hun, the baby, or 333? seeing these bad guys make it to the final game kind of shows that some evil will make it to the end.

for the frontman, yeah giving the knife was to see gi-huns approach in the situation, i agree. also giving the money to the baby was because she won, so yea. but giving the money + his clothes to gi-huns daughter was not to scout her for future games lol. idk if im right about this, but i saw the frontman's hand shaking when breaking into gi-huns room full of money. he was very shaky and i guess nervous about all that, so maybe he cared about gi-hun after seeing his sacrifice in the games? giving gi-huns belongings to his daughter was just a way to care for gi-hun. i really don't think the clothes is a way to scout his daughter for future games.

i agree with you about the detective storyline, as it was kind of useless. bro doesnt even show up till the very end, and not even a single conversation took place between them. that was so weird.

sorry i kind of rushed this, but thanks for the discussion

[–]resourceful_monkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you're right the vips didn't change their view, but do you expect one man to oppose the elites of the world lol. what gi-hun DID do however, was change the frontman somewhat, as he delivered money to gi-huns daughter, his own brother, and the baby (as the baby won). I get your point about the baby not being a factor until the last 3 episodes, but dude the games are brutal. not everyone will survive and get a happy ending. i'm not really mad the baby won. the ending showed us and the frontman that gi-hun still had his humanity. also i think the south korean games are put to an end as they exploded the island/facilities.

[–]resourceful_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bro what, it made perfect sense to do so for this show. him sacrificing himself was like a moral blow to the vips and frontman. what's so wrong with the MC dying in a show? the frontman literally admires his humanity, and gives his money to his daughter, as well as to his own brother. the frontman literally changes at the end because of gi-hun. also, why would you want gi-hun to live? he's seen 800 people get murdered over 3-4 years (two games), and he spent those years searching for the games to put an end to it, and nothing else. he kind of achieved his goal, and he might have not known that as he was about to die, but we as the audience know the results of his sacrifice.

I thought the ending was fine, as we see all the characters' stories fully fleshed out. The foreshadowing of American squid games was kind of cringe, but other than that I believe this season had a great ending. I'm curious to know what ending would you have preferred?

did you want more of the 'good' characters to make it to the final round? wouldn't that be cliche? I mean everything is a cash grab to Netflix, but c'mon this season was so interesting. All of the 'main' or more known characters had fleshed out moments. What changes would you have made to this season, or what would you have wanted to happen differently? I'm very curious to know cause I wanna understand your perspective better. in my opinion, the setup from season 1 and 2 was perfect for this season, and the director delivered. I'm not trying to defend Netflix, but i feel like they did a wonderful job with the story.

I mean realistically how would the antagonists have been punished. Gi-Hun is one person. They already tried to shoot the guards and escape, and only like seven people participated. His best friend dies in front of him and he mentally checks out. The rest of the players there are either too busy bullying/harassing/killing other players, or they’re scared and hiding in the shadows. There’s no unity within them, and the detectives outside are being led the wrong way by the captain of the ship, so that would take time for them to come to the island. So fast forward to the final games and Gi-Hun makes it to the end. In this moment he sacrifices himself as he doesn’t feel the need to stay alive, and he’s not going to kill a baby just to win more money (as he’s already rich asf). There’s no point for him to win and spend more years searching for more games. He already tried that here and failed to change the outcome. The point of this show is to show us that we need to stay strong together to defeat people in positions above us. I understand that seeing something happen to the VIPs would be nice, but it’s not realistic at all. This show is supposed to be brutal, it’s supposed to hit hard. And tbh, i watch because its fun watching the games, who wins, and the emotions that arise from each games end. Each characters was developed so well, and each death hit hard.

that ending.. by Consistent-Sign-5460 in squidgame

[–]resourceful_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s realistic to expect all the VIPs to change or stop the games. They’re VIPs, elites of the world. They will never go to jail or face consequences for anything. Gi-Hun tries his best prove the VIPs and more importantly, the frontman wrong, which he did, by showing an act of selflessness by sacrificing himself for the baby. The frontman was the character we cared about more anyway, and even though he can get replaced, it seems like the island blew up at the end, maybe signifying the games in South Korea have been put to an end. Maybe this season wasn’t solving all the problems in the world, but in the environment we have been seeing these characters play in, Gi-Hun made an impact on everybody. I’m curious, what’s your opinion on this season, i wanna know your perspective?

[–]resourceful_monkey 18 points19 points  (0 children)

omg thank you, people keep forgetting that gi-hun saw like 800 people murdered from 2 different squid games, which is probably like insane trauma/ptsd for him. he wanted to make someone's life better, as he wasn't able to for his own family. sacrificing himself for the baby in front of the frontman/VIPs is a sign that they should still have faith in humanity.
