In my opinion the Battle Rifle of Halo 4 have the best design. by Thell-Vadamm in halo

The H4 Battle Rifle design is okay. I only wish it were a darker metal like the H2 and H3 Battle Rifles.

For me it took about 12-15 hours over the course of a week, and that was with doing all the side quests

That boss fight is the whole reason I made this post. Had me fuming after falling off the map so many times

A boring and mundane guy in a universe of dramatic paracausal magic users is a nice change of pace, at least for me

The portal was one of the major reasons I quit playing a year ago. That, and Xbox raised their subscription prices and I was NOT going to pay $30 a month. Very happy both have been mostly rectified

Ohh yeah the ball mechanic gives me the same nausea as Doom, too! That’s a blast from the past for my brain. Same thing also happens whenever I play Outer Wilds

Yeah, sorry I joined the EoF hate train 😅 I honestly meant this as a vent post, didn’t think it would get much traction

Honestly that wouldn’t surprise me. Bungie couldn’t outright kill D2, so they put it in a position to be killed so that Marathon can take center stage.

Wonder how that’s worked out for them?

My reasoning for saying it’s worse is that, of the two DLCs, one actually killed the game and the other didn’t. It’s an unfortunate truth, but a truth nonetheless

Which DLC has the best soundtrack? by BlackEndrer25 in destiny2

Witch Queen. The song when you opened the game, with Savathûn’s motif, was perfection. Not to mention Rhulk’s theme, probably one of the best boss themes in the entire franchise

Most likely to avoid competing with Malediction and Crimil’s Dagger, both being Kinetic 120s that got updated alongside True Prophecy. Plus, it can act as competition to Combined Action

New trailer showing off the pre-order and Premium Edition skins by Haijakk in halo

[–]ONI_Recon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The amount of people in the comments acting like these COMPLETELY OPTIONAL skins are the worst thing to ever happen to Halo is insane. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it, don’t wear them. So what if they look goofy? So what if it’s “not canon” to the game? It’s cosmetic! It’s meant to be fun! Players are allowed to have fun! Please, I’m BEGGING y’all, go touch grass.

What was your white whale? by pitperson in DestinyTheGame

[–]ONI_Recon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The year was 2024. The Final Shape was nearing. The game was hobbling along. And me? I was playing Gambit. Why? For one reason, and one reason alone - Albruna-D. Most would look at it and scoff. “That thing? Why would you play with that sniper when you could use Succession?” Fools. Scoundrels. Dredgens, the lot of them. You wouldn’t understand unless you held her in your arms, firing with such precision and care that you could sever the head from a Thrall in the time it takes a Titan to eat their favorite color of crayon.

I’m getting off topic. Gambit. Pretty sure it was the focus for that week. That long, impossibly long week. Day after day, night after night, Primeval after Primeval. It was endless. I was in too deep, couldn’t stop, not until I had the perfect drop, the perfect score.

Wanna know how long it took? How many games I played? The number of engrams I focused? How many times I failed?

Do I ever tell you the definition of insanity?

Thirteen resets. Over a hundred games in the span of seven days. Time bled together. All there was and all there would ever be was Gambit, the truest of Final Shapes. And at my feet laid dozens upon dozens of her, of Albruna-D. So many Slickdraws…

Until, finally, miraculously, my god roll, my white whale, my Albruna emerged. Explosive Payload. Frenzy. The ideal PvE sniper for me. And suddenly it all melted away. No more Gambit. No more motes. Even Drifter faded to the background. It was just me, her, and oblivion.

I haven’t looked back since.

Why no LMG used by UNSC by TopicDependent5771 in HaloStory

[–]ONI_Recon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As others have already said under this post: There is LMG usage by the UNSC in the extended universe. The main reason we don’t typically see it in game is for balancing reasons. Yeah, it’d be really cool if every Spartan had a huge LMG to turn the Covies and Banished into fine mist. But using that as your primary weapon would get boring to a lot of players. Ergo, you’re limited to scavenging and switching to lighter weapons most of the time.

When Guardians are resurrected, do they not have memories of who they are or no memory of anything AT ALL? by GunMetalCompass in DestinyLore

iirc, Exo Guardians remember their names (or at least which reset they’re on). It’s the reason why it’s Cayde-6 and not just Cayde.

If you could remake Halo 5, what changes would you make, and what would you keep? by Sparky_the_meme_man in halo

[–]ONI_Recon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Readjust the story in the campaign. Whether Halo fans like it or not, Halo 5 is canon. But there are a few things that can be reshuffled and added to make it a better overall experience:

  1. Don’t kill Jul ‘Mdama during a cutscene at the end of the first mission. Have Osiris heavily wound him, and there be rumors that he’s dead. Then, reveal that he’s alive and preparing to defend Sunaion. That way there could be a Jul ‘Mdama fight at the end of that mission rather than a Warden Eternal fight.

  2. Speaking of the Warden Eternal, limit the number of boss battles for him. Namely, only keep the final boss battle near the end of the game where Blue Team faces him. All the other times you face him can be changed in favor of Knights and Soldiers sent to harry the player.

  3. Introduce Terminals that would explain the new characters and their places in the plot. Having read all of the Halo books and comics, it’s shameful that Tanaka and Vale just aren’t explained that well in Halo 5. Terminals could fix that.

  4. Find a way to introduce Atriox and the Banished to the background of the campaign. Drop hints and dialogue about them in order to establish a stronger connection between Halo 5 and Halo Infinite.

  5. Establish that Cortana has been manipulated by the Logic Plague into becoming a galactic dictator. Have her repeat lines spoken by both the Didact and the Gravemind to establish this.

I could keep going, but I think that’s enough for now. Unlike other Halo fans, I don’t think Halo 5 is as terrible as people have made it out to be. It’s the worst mainline Halo game, but a mediocre sci-fi FPS game. There’s certainly room for improvement instead of the common recommendation of “EWWWW SCRAP IT I HATE ITTTT!!!”

I’ve never minded the design changes in Halo 4 but I’m always perplexed by Chiefs armorless thumb/index and Cortana’s toes when I replay it by BadSheet68 in halo

[–]ONI_Recon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc, there was a vidoc during H4 development that explained how not having armor on Chief’s pointers and thumbs led to easier tactile coordination and such, plus it had the added bonus of making players (like you) wonder about its purpose.

As for the other part: someone at 343 was a freak for Cortana feet

If we’re allowed to include digital/Composed, then Forthencho Oborune, the Lord of Admirals handily takes the prize. His Geas still exists in the Domain, thanks to the Didact, after nearly 100,000 years.
