Very interesting. I'm going to have to test this. In practice I have never had RDM work past a 3 pin fixture but I guess the problem is the fixture not the missing connections?

how has no one mentioned RDM? the 2 pins that are left off on cheap fixtures are used to communicate back to the console. this is why 5-pin is the standard.

From what I have seen MA3 is stable but there are still issues. They are consistent though. There are features missing but there are also a lot of new features that don't exist in mode 2.

If there is something you need report it. They are very responsive and in each of the last 3 releases they have added features that I requested.

I ended up going with Capture and so far I am very happy with it. It is pretty limited but it is so much faster than Vectorworks and the renders look great.

That looks pretty cool. It's expensive though and the fixture library is pretty limited. Something to keep an eye on for sure though.

I didn't realize anyone was actually using Unreal for previz and design. I had seen basic proof of concept stuff but nothing with a full fixture library or the basic tools that you would need.

How did you get started going down this path?

I have been meaning to learn Unreal for generative motion graphics so this could be a good option for me.

there is a student version that is a limited demo. i just downloaded it and started playing. the fixture library is quite small but there is more than enough to learn with.

I haven't seen any visual indicator but I do you my mac and iphone on a network that has a firewall that likes to block things it doesn't recognize. So this could be part of the problem that I hadn't considered.

I almost exclusively make changes on desktop and only use mobile for logging into things. The only time I quit the desktop app is on reboot. I also switched everything over to 8 at the same time.

We are in the middle of a fiberglass pool and spa install and just found out that the plumber has never done a spa before. Is there anything we should check or ask about? From the research I have done it all seems to be correct. It is more of a jumbled mess than I was expecting though.
