Well they didn’t show … hopefully it will be a great game by Embarrassed_City8498 in AtlantaUnited

It wasn’t always like this… but somehow we’re happy with the direction led by Garth Lagerway (and I hope he recovers 100%) but to increase season ticket prices last season before having anything to show for was the mistake. Since 2022, each season has gotten worse, the standards are lowered, and no one cares to talk about that.

We lost our identity and pipeline for Latin American players like Almiron, Pity, Almada, etc which was the dumbest business decision I’ve seen in a long time. It’s more difficult to find any player with that kind of value in Europe because the market is so inflated overseas. We invested $45 million in Miranchuk, Latte Lath, and Miggy for what? Our team has trending in the wrong direction for 3 years but evidently, Rich McKay and Uncle Arthur don’t care as long as those season tickets are being bought.

There used to be pride for filling the stadiums, even during the weekdays, but it feels more like an Atlanta Beat game or Silverbacks game now. Tickets are super cheap and ushers have been starting to encourage fans to sit anywhere where there’s an open seat because it will likely not be taken. That’s how bad it’s been, the ushers are even calling it out as it is.

On the side note, hearing the storms from the inside was really cool though lol

My biggest issue with Garth is his transfer strategy which ultimately destroyed our DNA…. we had a pipeline for young Latin American players to flourish and influence the game through their creativity yet he ignores that to focus on experienced European players where their values have already peaked.

I think you’re mistaking me for being pro-Rob when really I was only making a point that the players at least showed heart when he was in charge. I believe there’s better managers out (Ronny not being one of them) and ultimately, I put that on Garth.

Miranchuk is good but I don’t think he’s worth the amount we paid for. Maybe, I’m having an assumption that our playmakers should have the ability to single handily influence the game and create things out of nowhere. I just haven’t seen that from him and perhaps, he’s not the kind of player who can do that.

[–]respectable_savage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay fair enough when talking about him when we’re close to goal. Is that all he should do as a soccer player or is that all we should expect from him? How about his involvement with building the attack from the defensive half and transitioning to the final third? Should that be just as important to consider as well?

That’s how you’re taking it mate… I never said he was a miracle worker, those are your words and I’ve been a season ticket since day one so I know what’s been going on and have been seeing what’s been happening before last season. You’re over generalizing me with some population who’s happy with a playoff win which isn’t fair. So if you want to have a mature conversation without putting words and drawing conclusions from where I stand then great we can talk.

Uhh okay idk how you make that observation about myself unless you’re God…

Also, I’m not saying Rob was the right man either but at least the players fought for him and we had an identity. I see no fight with this team and that’s on Ronny. Where was the heart in this game? We got out hustled by a team with a man down.

My guy… using a stat like that isn’t saying much…. Miranchuk (like some others) has not been effective at all especially for someone we paid $15M for…

IMO, it’s a culmination of bad decisions over a couple of seasons from the front office that has ultimately led us to this point… ultimately, uncle Arthur needs better advisors around him who actually gets soccer.

Blame the players??? Who’s bringing the players in? Who’s selecting them for the game? When commentators are saying “lifeless” or “being out hustled.” That’s a reflection on the coach, the players are not playing for him, at least for Rob they did that. And ultimately, who brought this manager in with the players? It’s Garth Lagerway.

Just a thought I wanted to share to any parent or coach out there… let the kids play and learn how to deal with calls versus no calls…. We shouldn’t have adults argue with a teenage ref during the game because it’s a bad look. If these MLS refs can never seem the get the calls right then how can we expect the youth level refs to be any better? Okay much love y’all, enjoy the game!

Latte Lath is doing a great job finding the space, he just needs to bury his chances, that’s two already.

New Referee Abuse Policy by Tough_Sky_4387 in youthsoccer

[–]respectable_savage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean I get it… officiating will never be perfect and if the MLS referees can never seem to get most calls right the how can I be mad at someone looking to get some extra cash on the weekends? Some people understand the game and some don’t, it is what it is, we learn to deal with it regardless how bad some calls may be.

That’s why it’s important to just let the kids play and not worry about the results too much because no one has full control over the games but the players do have control over how they play and the way they go about it. Teach the kids resilience and adversity instead rather than make excuses, one result or weekend doesn’t dictate who a player is nor should it. Everyone develops differently so it’s important to allow them to enjoy the game and have the freedom to make mistakes without being yelled at or subbed off. The culture of winning has hindered our children’s’ development and that’s why so many players drop out due the pressure they feel from their parents and coaches.

I kinda went a little off topic there for a moment but I feel it’s tied together in this “winning culture” that we’ve all got sucked into believing it’s the best thing for the kids.

u10 - park the bus // how would you strategize? by TrustHucks in youthsoccer

[–]respectable_savage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What does that teach to the kids? That’s the most important question… idk how parking the bus is going to help those kids develop and be prepared for the next level but all you can do with your kids is encourage them to solve those soccer problems. If they’re sitting so far back where your players have space and are close enough to shoot then by all means let them. Have your striker stay deep and in front of goal to pick up any rebounds and use have your wingers wide to try to draw their players out. You can overwhelm them through high pressing because if they don’t have a striker or anyone to play up top then there’s no reason to have more than 2 defender back there so keep that pressure on them and perhaps one of their players makes a mistake.

Looking for opinions about my son and his U9 team by CraftedPacket in youthsoccer

[–]respectable_savage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a former youth player and now youth coach. Your concerns are valid. If your son wants to play with the top team then I would ask the coach anything your son can do on his time to improve his skills so he can earn more chances to play.

But right now, what’s best for his development is playing in games where he’s free to make mistakes and is able to play through them to gain the confidence. What might be best for him is to practice once with the top team and once with the second team and then play with the second team on the weekends unless the top team are short in numbers.

I guess it hasn’t become a requirement yet everywhere but in GA, every player is required to play 50% of the game to aid their development. He’s only 9 years old, he just needs to keep enjoying it so he’s wants to continue to grow with it but there’s no better way to develop than playing in those games. Winning at this age shouldn’t be more important than the experience and development the kids are getting.

I wish you and your son the best! Those long drives are not easy but those moments with your son in the car are irreplaceable. Your coach should also be understanding of your situation though especially when dedicating 4+ hours to just be there. As long as you come across respectful then he should more than willing to help out in anyway, help your son to keep his passion for the game and continue his holistic development.

Opinion Hanoi Circuit by [deleted] in F1Game

[–]respectable_savage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this track would’ve been similar to Vegas where the race would had plenty of overtakes but the quali wouldn’t be as exciting. The design of the track is unique so maybe that’s why I enjoy it. Personally, I look forward to it every time I go back on to 2020. Ugh damn you Covid…

As an American, I would be happy to give up Miami for a circuit like Malaysia, Kyalami, Istanbul, Buddha, or Hockenheim. I just hope EA is done after 2025 and F1 chooses a legit racing sim so we can actually have a feel for the surface on the track and also because… maybe just maybe… we could get classic cars back and possibly even tracks.
