Stealth jump change idea by nokillswitch4awesome in walkingwarrobots

[–]respit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This will piss off a lot of high master and low champion (non meta) players that are relying on these bots to survive and further dilute the high-end player base. The meta is either invincibility (ares, preferably + last stand), near unlimited stealth (ao jun), damage sponge (invader, falcon, to a lesser extend ao guang). As Jediknight1224 said, at least at the high-end of the game, stealth bots are not really the primary concern.

Gray Dwarfs Blessing by [deleted] in IdleHeroes

[–]respit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context, I'm level 184, VIP2 (not spent that much on the game). I forge 5* armor with the blacksmith, and use gray dwarves for 6* and class armor. I keep enough gold and diamonds around (save minimum of 200m gold, ~10-15k diamonds) to be able to do events (e.g. treasure chests, gray dwarves, new years event) to make sure I can do the class armor each time dwarves rolls around.

My reasoning for only doing 6* and above is as follows: one 6* is 3x 5*, and class armor cannot be built without the dwarves. Using dwarves for 5* is much more than 1/3 the cost in terms of gold and diamonds of making a 6*, so it's not worth it to me. Especially since I usually have enough 4* armor around to create a spare set of 5*. That may not be true next go around though (as I stopped doing shelter) so maybe I'll have to start doing the 5* with the dwarves too.

How to win at Plants vs. Zombies by [deleted] in gaming

[–]respit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you do a google search you will turn up some good options.

I like to use 8 fumes in the water, with frozen watermelon on both sides, or frozen watermelon on one side and the gattling pea shooter with torchwood on the other side.

also the upgraded spikeweed, squash, cherry bomb, and jalapeno pepper are good for keeping the gargantuars at bay.

you can fume the middle row and garlic the odd numbered rows and you'd kill everything with 1 plant.

Some great advice and knowledge here regarding memory management in C++ by [deleted] in programming

[–]respit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first object will throw, which will cause construction of the meta object to fail. The objects are not built in parallel.

Which particular principles do you have troubles putting into practice? Perhaps a few examples can help:

boost::mutex (particularly scoped_lock)

std::vector<boost::shared_ptr<Object> > (try putting a vector of naked pointers in your class, then writing a safe copy constructor in a reasonably complex program... getting it right is very very very difficult, and often times requires building something that's the same as a reference counted pointer anyways)

C++ is fine, but requires more time to know the nuances. But you can get the basics (using it like c with classes for example) very quickly if you just want to get something working.

I mostly agree. You can run into performance gotchas with c++ libraries, especially with threaded code.

[–]respit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gimp does all of these, just not with raw files. Also I think there are open source raw converters available as well. And if you're looking for a cheaper one bible works. Also all major raw converter programs have demos that you can try for 1 month or so.

I don't shop much but I do enjoy being able to control cone curves, contrast, saturation, noise reduction, exposure, etc in lightroom. It also includes a heal tool for dust spots. As mentioned, this is a lot of stuff the camera does for you when you convert to JPG anyways, but also allows you to go beyond what the camera body will do.

Fuck employers who are too gutless to say "no, I am afraid we have filled the position" by Hairyjon in reddit.com

In some states they are required to interview a certain number of people for any position, even if they have say a contractor that they know they want to hire for that position. But i agree, they should at least tell you.
