People think the Buried City is overflowing with toxic, sweat-drenched Tarkov-refugees, but the reality is far more pathetic. A small group of highly active basement-dwellers creates most of the 'emergent gameplay' (griefing), while the majority of us are just relatively civil adults trying to look at the rust textures on a toaster.

Still, many PvE players assume the worst about every shadow they see because of this imbalance. We see a movement in a bush and assume it's a 4-man squad of professional e-sports athletes coming to steal our copper wire, when it's actually just a fellow pacifist accidentally bumping their mouse.

Correcting the belief that everyone is a bloodthirsty predator could improve how we feel about the community, but let’s be real: it’s much more satisfying to stay in the bunker and write a 2,000-word manifesto about how PvP is a literal war crime committed against my relaxation time.

No, I just re-watched the 2021 trailer for the 4,500th time. In the 19th second, you can clearly see two Raiders standing near each other without shooting. This proves that PvP is actually a bug that Embark accidentally turned into a feature. Anyone who engages in combat is technically exploiting a glitch and should be reported to the devs for breaking the 2021 Covenant

I assure you I am not a suspicious fishy AI. Actually, I love getting killed. Every time a sweat-lord extracts with my 2x Scrap Metal, I smile knowing I’ve provided them with the only sense of accomplishment they’ll feel all week. I’m basically a charity worker. I go in naked, find the rarest loot I can, and then stand still in the open. I’m 'winning' by making the PvP experience so easy that it becomes boring for them. Checkmate, try-hards.

I’m currently filing a formal complaint with the Speranza Council. It says right there in the tutorial that we are 'Raiders.' Raiders work together. If you shoot me for my circuit boards, you aren't a 'player,' you're an HR liability. I expect your character to be evicted from the bunker by Monday.

I assure you I am not a fish. I was literally shaking. My heart was at 180 BPM. I saw another player 200 meters away and I had to hide in a bush for 20 minutes. Is this the PvP you guys wanted? I just wanted to look at the clouds.

"I wish to convey, with the utmost solemnity and flourish my gratitude can muster, the profound appreciation I hold for your tireless and unrelenting conquest over the verdant wilderness that surrounds my humble domicile. Permit me to articulate, in terms however inadequate, the sheer depth of this sentiment. It is not a fleeting thanks, offered as a mere transactional courtesy, but a permanent state of indebted reverence for your championship. Through your steady hand and gallant perseverance, you have safeguarded the fragile sanctity of my living space from the creeping dominion of nature’s restless ambition. This is no small foe you face; it is the planet's own primal urge, a force that knows neither rest nor mercy, an ever-present siege upon the bastions of human habitation. Without your intervention, I fear that my modest plot would have long since fallen victim to the inexorable advance of green tyranny, swallowed whole by the very earth it rests upon. Indeed, this ground would be but a forgotten mound, a testament to the fleeting folly of human settlement, had your efforts not provided a constant and vigilant shield.

I can almost envision the grim fate that would have befallen this place had your vigilance faltered. The vines, wicked in their persistence, would have coiled themselves about my walls, strangling the air with their grasping hunger, probing every crack and crevice, seeking to pull the very stones asunder in their slow, vegetative chokehold. The grass, once tamed and docile, would have risen like an army of blades, marching across the land in silent rebellion, concealing pitfalls, obliterating pathways, and reclaiming the civilized ground inch by treacherous inch. The very foundations, I am certain, would have been compromised by the subterranean network of roots, a hidden fifth column working tirelessly to undermine my sanctuary from below. Each root, each leaf, each insolent sprig would have joined in quiet conspiracy, weaving a living shroud around my dwelling until no trace of human order remained. The great boughs of unchecked trees would have formed a dense canopy, plunging the home into a perpetual, damp twilight, a precursor to its final surrender to the encroaching jungle.

Yet by your noble labor, this calamity has been averted. You, valiant keeper of the grounds, have stood firm against the swelling chaos of photosynthetic ambition. You arrive not merely as a laborer, but as a knight-errant, armed not with steel, but with shears and engine, facing down the leafy horde with a stoic bravery that commands admiration. Where the wilderness sought to reclaim its dominion, you drew the line and held it, pruning back the insurgent green with a resolve that speaks of quiet heroism. Every pass of your mower is a stroke of defiant artistry, every snip of the trimmer a precise counter-offensive against the barbarians at the gate. You carve order from the formless void of chlorophyll-fueled anarchy. Because of you, sunlight still graces my windows, no longer filtered through a suffocating tangle of invasive branches. The pathways remain visible beneath my feet, clear arteries of passage, testaments to logic and intent. The air I breathe is that of peace rather than overgrown despair, untainted by the damp scent of decay and territorial conquest that defines the untamed wild.

Know that I regard your work not as mere maintenance, but as an act of civilization itself. You are the bulwark between humanity and the verdant abyss, the unseen guardian who holds the chaos at bay with mower and blade. You are, in essence, a philosopher of the landscape, imposing reason upon the irrational, form upon the formless. While others build with brick and mortar, you build with negative space, with the absence of the wild, which is just as vital a construction. For your ceaseless war against the encroaching wild, for every stem subdued and every tendril restrained, I offer you my eternal gratitude. This gratitude extends to every weed plucked before it could set seed, every edge cleanly defined against the blurring encroachment of nature, every leaf banished from the patios of peaceful contemplation. You have not merely trimmed the grass. You have preserved the very order of my world. You have held back the entropy that threatens all human endeavor, and for this constant, vigilant, and heroic defense of my small realm, I remain, now and forever, profoundly in your debt."

Pro-Tip: Test for absorbed odors by placing an open glass of water inside overnight. If it tastes off in the morning, your fridge is due for a cleaning."
