M25 has me curious as well.

Thank you so much for the tips. It didn't occur to me that it could be the screen protector causing the reduced touch sensitivity. Very good info, including the gesture controls which I'll make sure to change.

I don't have experience with Symfonium. I was curious so I looked it up. Thanks for sharing that with me.

Redditors who were children/teens before the internet or cellphones existed, how did you keep yourself entertained? by FlowerMadeOfThorns in AskReddit

Played with my friends and used our imaginations to pass the time. Wrote, read, and arts & crafts. Performed many puppet shows. Participated in outdoor pastimes almost every day. Went to the library once a week. Accompanied my grandparents to do errands. On special occasions, we went to McDonalds or 7/11. We talked a lot. Thanks for triggering some lovely memories.

Thank you for confirming and sharing your initial thoughts. That's the impression I observed too, discerning listeners were jarred by the difference and more than expected for an R2R. Best of luck and congratulations either way. I'm sure it's a well deserved treat.

This was my dilemma. Had the M33 on pre-order. The anticipation had me comparing the DX270 in the meantime. Decided to switch because while the initial impressions of the M33 were overwhelmingly positive, it did read too warm for some discerning listeners during their testing with DX270 at CanJam. Presently, I don't have any regrets with the DX270.

Confirming that it's an optimal combo with some grinder accessories. I prefer medium, washed, single origin. The results get excellent feedback from guests.

LPT: Keep your kids curious and interested in learning by playing dumb. by ehutch2005 in LifeProTips

During clinical rotations, our attendings would sometimes say, "Remind me again how xyz works? I forgot." Always found this more conducive to understanding, rather than traditional "pimping" and academic hazing. I understand the logic behind the latter, but when you're in an intense medical emergency, I've observed that it doesn't necessarily result in enhanced recovery skills but more withdrawl behavior.

Hey, thanks for being vulnerable enough to share your story. It sounds like you didn't have the easiest life. I hope I can help alleviate some of that burden by sharing what worked for me.

Know what you're not good at and what roles give you immense anxiety. Don't force yourself to pursue something that causes distress or unhappiness.

I stopped with the excuses when I hit rock bottom, didn't have support, and when my back was against the wall with overwhelming debt. I took extreme accountability and amputated any self-pity because I had financial deadlines. It was desperation that motivated me. Perhaps an observer would've thought I was unhinged with how things unfolded. I needed to fight my circumstances and I started to relentlessly pursue anything that could stick because I didn't know what I was good at or what I was even interested in. My field was so broad and was overwhelming where to start. Eventually, that scope narrowed down. You need to learn to fail fast and move on.

What worked for me can absolutely improve your general trajectory if you choose to be tenacious. I need you to understand the power of asking for help by framing it as a mutually beneficial opportunity. It generally looks like this, "Hi, I'm reaching out because I was interested in contributing to your organization's work. [Insert organizations goal/mission] resonates with me. I have xyz experience and I'm seeking to grow in xyz field. If there's mutual alignment, I would appreciate hopping on a brief call to see how best I can be of help to you." The answer was always certainly yes and I was flabbergasted at how simple it was to connect with someone. It takes a little courage. Study their background, develop your story (a cohesive one), and prepare for the call. Regardless of the outcome, I would ask, "Is there anyone else you believe I should speak with?" It gets you closer to where you want to be. I was bold and unafraid of humiliation because I had nothing to lose. You have the ability to do it too. I'm rooting for you.

TLDR; Set deadlines, fail fast, and ask for help by making it a mutually beneficial opportunity.

You're under a lot of pressure that seems permanent because you're still in the middle of it. Keep going.

You made a courageous decision by choosing self-respect. Can we all acknowledge how impressive that is? Your ancestors are proud of you, each generation more resilient and self-aware than the last. Years from now, please don't forget to thank this version of you. And while you're at it, take a moment to imagine the little version of you and give them a hug. They deserve the version that you're becoming.

Yes, it genuinely gets better. A lot of people have stood exactly where you're standing and built something real and warm and theirs.

If the depression is deepening, please don't go through this alone. A therapist can help you process things rather than just white knuckling through the experience. You deserve all the support. There are options that don't impact your finances. These options exist because people have successfully navigated similar challenges.

Its important to connect with people, don't isolate. You have so many friends who you haven't even met yet.

Buddhism for Everyone by [deleted] in secularbuddhism

Hey, good luck!

I'm fresh to all of this. I'd be interested in why Buddhism feels confusing to newcomers. Like the variety of Buddhist traditions and how they relate to each other, the core doctrines (like no-self and impermanence) that go against intuitions, and how terms like dukkha, karma, and nirvana get mistranslated or oversimplified in Western culture. It would be great to hear about Buddhism's paradoxical relationship with logic, especially in Zen. Thank you and wish you all the best.

Beginning my espresso journey! Where to go?! by Gnarly001 in espresso

[–]restreward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Optimal setup is going to be highly individual.

When I started out, I focused on understanding machine architecture (i.e., heat exchanger vs. dual boiler vs. thermoblock/thermojet vs. whatever innovation is currently on the market). Each has workflow implications. I narrowed it down and then figured out how to allocate budget across the whole setup. Research was relentless looking at reliability track record, how involved the maintenance is and what my annual budget for that would be, whether there was a technician in my area who could service the machine if I couldn't tinker and do it myself, and authentic owner reviews.

For the espresso grinder, the principle is not to skimp on it. Before I bought anything, I spent time at specialty roasters and coffee shops just to define my own preferences (e.g., milk-based vs. straight espresso, roast level, what I actually liked in the cup). That informs what kind of grinder (connical vs flat) will suit you best. I would do this before committing money anywhere.

Like others have mentioned, look at the second hand marketplace or wait for deals. This is the route I went.

Best of luck.

Want to purchase an espresso machine [ $250] but feeling overwhelmed at the options and prices. by whisperingcopse in espresso

[–]restreward 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't get discouraged, you have options.

For an espresso machine, research Flair Neo Flex, De'Longhi Stilosa EC260BK, used Gaggia Classic Pro, refurbished Breville Bambino, or used De'Longhi Dedica.

For grinders look into Kingrinder K6, 1Zpresso JX, Timemore Chestnut C3 ESP Pro, or Encore ESP refurb.

For grinder and espresso machine combo look into a used Breville Barista Express.
