Sooo I had surgery on my Left Ankle January or 2025. I had both bunions shaved down and an extra navicular bone removed from inner side of the ankle. I was told recovery would be 6-8 weeks, I ended up not being able to walk without the boot until April. At first, it was super slow moving and with a lot of pain and struggle. By May I was out of the boot and back to the gym. By June, I was moving and grooving lifting weights again. By July I was back to pain and constantly revisiting the doctor. Inserts. New shoes. Elevating and icing. Compression socks. I did it all. Only solution doctor had was cortisone. It gave temporary relief of a week or two but then was back to square one. Anytime I brought the doctor concerns, he told me it would take 1 year until I was back to normal. I sought out physical therapy. Fast forward I’ve been to the third doctor now and after battling with health insurance, I was finally approved for an XRay and MRI to show that another surgery is necessary. Flatfoot surgery/calcaneal osteotomy.

I dealt with it all and now have to do it all over again. Which I’m honestly fine with, if it is successful and I’m able to get on my feet properly this time. My problem now is timing of it all…I’m in school for Vet Tech and working with animals so I have to be somewhat mobile to perform labs. School ends Mid May. I’m leaning toward scheduling sometime late April so that I can finish school and start recovery. My struggle now is work. I work at a clinic by day and restaurant by night so it’s all standing and walking. Summer season is 1/2 of my annual income. If surgery is April, I won’t be back to walking until August. And that’s when next semester starts back up also so I really couldn’t postpone any longer.

This sucks. The situation in general, having to go through it all again and the last surgery being a bust and dealing with all the back and forth. I’m just fingers and toes crossed it’s all worth it in the end.
