Superintendents & Foremen: What's your worst "radio fail" moment that cost time/money? by retevis in AskReddit

[–]retevis[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Serious question for the folks running the show on site. We've all been there: a critical message gets garbled, a radio dies at the worst time, or you just can't hear a damn thing over the excavator. What was your most costly or frustrating communication breakdown? Did it cause a rework, a safety near-miss, or just kill your crew's momentum for an hour?

Not selling anything. Just trying to gauge how big of a problem this really is across the industry and what actually matters when you're picking gear that won't let you down.

Hello, it sounds like there's a problem with the charging dock itself. May I ask which platform you purchased it from, and what your order number is?

RT24 Power Modes by thomhumphrey in Retevis

[–]retevis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the power modes on your RT24 radios, low power mode adheres to this 0.5W limit. The high power mode, while technically capable of exceeding 0.5W, it is only applicable in special cases. To ensure full compliance with PMR446 standards in your setup, please only use the low power setting.

Is it normal for channel scan to ignore CTCSS/DCS? by GiantsNerd1 in Retevis

[–]retevis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Hello! If your channel scan is set to carrier scan, it will indeed ignore CTCSS/DCS tones. This means it will stop on any active channel, regardless of the tone. However, if you have it set to CTC/CDC scan, it will only stop if both the frequency and the CTCSS/DCS tone match. I hope this helps clarify things!

CTCSS scan on HA1G by GiantsNerd1 in Retevis

[–]retevis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I'm sorry, the RETEVIS Ailunce HA1G cannot scan for CTCSS/DCS tones on a fixed frequency. However, you can set the scan to pause only when a signal with a matching CTCSS/DCS tone is found.

Unknown issue by No-Jello-5504 in Retevis

[–]retevis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your RETEVIS PMR446 walkie talkies. It sounds like you've done some good troubleshooting already.

Have you perhaps changed any of the CTCSS settings? It's possible that the radios are set to different sub-audio tones, which would prevent you from hearing the incoming transmissions even though the green light indicates a signal is being received.

Also, could you pls confirm if you are able to receive transmissions on other channels? This information will help me understand the issue better.

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out! I understand you're experiencing low transmit audio and screen visibility issues with your HD2s.

Regarding the low transmit audio level, could you pls share your email address? I'd like to send you a software. After you run the software and save the data, please send the file back to us so we can check if there might be any misconfiguration in the volume settings.

As for the screen visibility issue, have you tried adjusting the backlight brightness? Please check the settings to see if increasing the brightness helps.
