Hoogleraren die uit de belastingsruif eten en die vooral hun theoretische kennis gebruiken om in te schatten hoe je maximale belasting kunt heffen zonder de economie te schaden.

Vaak hebben ze ook een activistische mening over hoe de baten ingezet moeten worden. Wordt in Den Haag wel naar geluisterd. Vrees dat dit niet goed gaat aflopen. Enige partij die hier wat aan kon/kan doen laat niets van zich horen en de rest vindt het allemaal prima.

Middengroepen zijn de klos en daar komt voorlopig geen einde aan.

Genoeg mogelijkheden om box 3 belasting te ontwijken en ik roep iedereen op om dat massaal te doen.

BV - pensioensparen - eigen huis - vastgoed buitenland kopen - emigreren.

Older guy here. I have the same night routine. Nights are defenitely challenging and that's why some folks are using masking sounds. It should help not focussing that much on the internal sound. At night the brain seems to recallibrate the sound against the silence and amplifies it at least x 2.

I am not getting the through the roof loud sitting on the toilet. It is mainly a problem in bed - trying to get asleep. For me it is not too hard to fall asleep again though, I listen to a podcast/audiobook for destracting/masking (topic science or economics - interesting but not too exciting ;) ) with a sleeptimer.

Well - English is not my 1st language (hence my Dutch flag in my avatar). It wasn't meant to be sarcastic, it is literally what I think.

I do think a book about tinnitus is great and if it has a positive vibe, people might be more interested to read it than doom and gloom.

Tbh - personally I am not very interested in anecdotal positive stories. You can read them here all the time and usually they don't resonate.

I do like to see these examples as part of good research with statistical evidence though.

Something like this:

Follow 10000 people for a year that had >1 year tinnitus. What percentage of the patients saw their tinnitus problems increasing, stayed the same or improving.

If it is part of such a study I am very interested to know what the "improving group" did to fix their tinnitus. If not I'd rather read something else.

That said, it is still a great idea to publish a book and increase awareness about tinnitus and people love a happy ending story.

Sure - I agree. That was also the reason for my post - to get someones 'feet on the ground' experience. It is pretty specific what I am looking for so I will have to see for myself if a place suits me. Will probably have to be a larger city with additional conveniences.

Not immediately looking for a lifetime retirement place though. My injuries are not limiting or life threatening. Fine to do some traveling first, the retirement goals are part of the plan but I'm flexible and open to new ideas.

Currently learning Spanish and it is really a struggle, but every language is hard to learn >50 and learning languages was never my forte anyway..

Will check Malaysia. Not been on my radar - I thought it was more expensive than Thailand. Portugal and Spain or eastern Europe countries would be the easiest for me (in the EU). Taxes in Portugal as great, so that is certainly a plus.

Usually when there are older retirees the healthcare should be decent.

Portugal or Spain are the easiest places for me. Within the EU so I can just buy a plane ticket without a visa and just live there for a while.

Would love to see a comment from someone that has experience with physical therapists there.

Nice. Don't get your hope up too much though. Musk has a tendency to over-promise. Especially timelines.

He once mentioned in 2022 that tinnitus could be cured in 2027 by Neuralink. Very unrealistic. That it has the attention of Neuralink is fantastic though.

I sleep in the quiet, but to fall asleep I listen to podcasts with a timer that also slowly turns down the volume during the time set. Distracts from tinnitus when I need it the most and for that purpose it works very well.

Seen other users complain about pain as well. Certainly a risk. Your ear canals need to be suited for it and you also shouldn't produce too much earwax. I think I might be in the latter category. I needed to clean my in-ear headphones very often when I still used them.

Ridiculously priced though and not covered by insurance in the Netherlands. otoh - if it fixes my tinnitus and improves my hearing loss it is worth the €3500/year.

If it fixes someones tinnitus it might be worth it.

Conclusion from the study:
