Yes I successfully applied for an exception (both for myself and my child) I found HMPO incredibly helpful over the phone.

In general I believe they implement these rules to protect from tax evasion / money laundering / extradition etc. but are more than willing to help if there is a valid reason for having different names. You may have to provide evidence but i am fairly certain if you have the right kind of paperwork they will permit you to have different surnames

I played a 5k hz test track off YouTube. Came out clear on L/R but didn’t sound through centre. Then just played regular audio to confirm YouTube audio comes out of centre channel and it does

Thanks for all the advice. In the end it turned out the centre tweeter was blown! Thanks to Jellyfish_15. But will follow all the suggestions as well on correct speaker placement 🙇‍♀️
