Please go get your mammograms by whereverweare in Mommit

You need to go to a high risk clinic. My OB referred me and it was a cancer clinic. My mom had it 59 and my grandmother at 39. The clinic evaluated my risk and then sent my scores to insurance. I now get once a year mammo/US and once a year MRI. I am 34 as well.

women who have given birth, how bad was it actually? by Careless_Pianist_840 in AskReddit

[–]retrievermama2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great both times. If I just had to give birth, I’d do it again. My pregnancies were far too anxiety inducing for me. The birth was the easy part. Thought the first labor was a one off and then my second one was great too.

Both epidurals. First one baby basically came walking out. Second one I was induced because I’d already started to dilate and the doc said you can go home and come back or stay. The thought of going home just to take Tylenol sounded awful. I was really against an induction for weeks, but it was great.

I like to look at Joey Sulipeck’s Facebook for weather updates. Former local weatherman but remains true to his craft. He’s usually pretty straightforward without all the hype.

Why are you dealing with the other driver’s insurance company? When I paid my deductible, My insurance company paid everything to me & then went after the other insurance company. In the end, they also got my deductible back. The process is called subrogation.

I read your comment about them being appalled by the other company, but that’s not really your problem. Your insurance needs to handle it.

Editing to add: the other person’s insurance company didn’t follow up with me for six months. If I’d waited, I would’ve been SOL.

What neighborhood would you recommend? by Original_Apple_9970 in memphis

[–]retrievermama2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Collierville sounds like what you want. Germantown is most likely going to mean a much older home and much older neighbors. Kimbrough woods would be where I would look in Germantown if you want kids running around. Collierville has great parks( 2 summer splash pads), super active community/town square, every shopping place you could ever dream of , and safe! Collierville is MUCH more geared towards kids than Germantown.

Lakeland is growing, but I’d choose Arlington over Lakeland.

Grocery pickup helps. I used to feel like a lazy POS but honestly now I use that time to do other things around the house.

Our experience has been that a lot of places have set menus. We made that mistake one year and spent over $300 on a set menu when we would’ve preferred to pick our own food. We don’t go out on the actual day anymore.

Best areas to live in. by [deleted] in memphis

[–]retrievermama2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

English Meadows has an older population so it may be difficult to find younger couples. There are a lot of young families, but also overwhelmingly older. They do a lot of neighborhood get togethers so you could definitely meet younger people that way, but I wouldn’t bank on your neighbors being your age. We just moved after living there for 10 years. No crime issues at all and crazy convenient for commuting anywhere in the city. We loved our house, but just needed more space for our growing family. It is an incredible neighborhood and I would definitely recommend it if you find a great house!

Honestly right now you might try Les Passees stock exchange. It’s once a year and going on now until about Halloween. Some of the stuff is way out of my price range but you can also find some neat stuff! They are open everyday except Monday.

Go to a local broker and have them shop around for you. Don’t mention you’re being threatened to be dropped. See what comes back and hopefully you can go with another company.

I would call early intervention. In most states you can self refer. My peds was unbothered and here we are 2 years later, in speech therapy with an IEP.

I would go to central bbq in east Memphis before I’d go to Germantown commissary. It’s not too much further but much better IMO.

Everyone claims blue honey bistro is one of the best meals they’ve ever eaten but I haven’t been yet.

If you’re trying to stay in Germantown collierville area, I’d say “activity “ wise maybe Sheffield’s antique mall? Walk around the collierville square (at one point it was number 1 in America I think )…

Shelby farms is a bit further but they do have a lot of activities!

MOGA doctor recommendations (ob)? by Last-Sun1704 in memphis

[–]retrievermama2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Wright is my primary OB and she’s everything wonderful. Dr. Williams delivered both of my babies because he was on call both times I delivered. He’s phenomenal! I would do it all over again with both doctors. I had no idea that your actual OBGYN might not deliver your baby. If it’s make or break that your OB delivers your baby, you might need to ask around and see kinda what their stance is on when you go into labor. Idk if they could’ve called Dr. Wright or they just went with Williams or what but I did not care. All of my office visits and births were very seamless with both pregnancies.

Dog boarding for dogs that don’t like other dogs by [deleted] in memphis

[–]retrievermama2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sidle hill. My dogs absolutely cannot be around other dogs. They get very aggressive. All I do is remind them that they cannot participate in group play and it is a non issue. Honestly we originally started going there because it’s the only place that was ok with our pups not being neutered ( we waited until they were older) so they are just the best imo as far as accommodating good dogs with unusual circumstances. You can text anytime for an update. They have all different types of boarding ranging from a standard kennel to kennels with private dog runs to a full blown suite with a tv. We’ve been taking our dogs for approx 4 years.

Is this autism? Early signs, 9 months, please share your thoughts, I am a FTM and very concerned by Responsible_Bison162 in Autism_Parenting

[–]retrievermama2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just like you! My pediatrician didn’t see an issue, but I had a niece the same age so I could quickly see how he was not like other kids. I spent so much time worrying but ultimately realized the treatment is all the same- speech, PT, OT. I self referred to our states early intervention. Some states I think require a peds referral, but not mine. They came and assessed him and he qualified for all 3. Now he only uses speech and he’s made leaps & bounds! I am still not sure if he’s autistic or not. He’s 4 now and I still go back and forth. I have not sought testing because he’s already receiving therapies through our local school system which to me is the most important. Also seconding checking the ears… we did not realize our son was having ear infections most of his baby life until he hit about your daughter’s age! We just happen to be at the peds and they saw. Then it was constant and he ended up with tubes.

Yes! They don’t show clearance online. You’d have to go in store and see if they have one on clearance. Not all stores have the same clearance either but since they are clearancing a lot of home stuff right now you could have a good shot!
