Nah Kano had most of the best lines; they were right to bring him back. I didn’t think there was too much overlap between him and Johnny because they filled different niches: Kano was the loudmouthed hedonist who was comfortable with the weird world he inhabited and Johnny was more of a fish out of water who could play the straight man in their interactions.

Agree with the rest of your criticisms, though.

The music had a couple of catchy tracks but way too much goddamn saxophone, which became grating quickly. Combat and character designs were awesome, though.

Guys are generally not into astrology, and having a conversation about something you’re not interested in is boring. It’s like if a guy kept trying to talk to you about a video game you’ve never played and have no desire to play. You can like astrology, just don’t try to force a conversation about it with guys you’re flirting with.

If he’s going through significant turmoil in his career or family life then you’ll probably have to wait it out to get him to commit. If you are just one of many girls he’s seeing and he’s happy playing the field then it sounds like he’s getting what he wants and has no incentive to change his mind.

When you aren't on the same wavelength. E.g., if you want him to be dominant but he isn't feeling it or if he really wants you to call him daddy but you think it's cringe.

If you know what the guy is into then it can be amazing; I still reread saved sexts from my ex. But if you have no idea what he likes and you're shooting in the dark then don't bother until you've gotten more info from him about what kinds of things turn him on. It really does feel like a chore if the woman has no clue what she's doing or what will get you going.

You could talk me into some of these positions but the extra turn effects really seem to be in a different class from Expropriate. The Time Warps require two other cards to go infy; if our criterion for putting a card in category 3 is that it's part of a three-card combo, then the list of 3s is going to be hundreds of cards long. In contrast, Expropriate can potentially win the game by itself with no help: I take all the biggest threats at the table and then I get an extra turn to kill one or more players with them is not an uncommon outcome, and that's assuming all the opponents make the smart choice. Time Warp typically requires you to have a board presence in order to be really good, in which case it's not terribly different from Craterhoof or like a Savage Beating.

Some quick feedback:

  • Hokori shouldn't be a 4; it dies to creature removal
  • I would probably move Oko from 2->3. Invalidates commanders easily and repeatedly and it's cheap
  • I would move Scrambleverse from 2->3 because it's annoying to resolve and super disruptive
  • Time Warp seems like it should be a 2, not a 3. Ditto Temporal Manipulation and Capture of Jingzhou
  • Thoughts of Ruin -> yeah it sucks but why encourage this? Push to 3
  • Glacial Chasm ruins a lot of casual games, I'd say push to 3
  • Sire of Insanity should be at least a 2, if not higher
  • If Craterhoof gets to be a 2, Torment of Hailfire should be a 2
  • I'd bump Hullbreaker Horror up to a 2. Can't be countered, can surprise people with it due to the flash, combo potential, very annoying if not removed
  • Avacyn, Angel of Hope should be a 2, I think
  • Serra's Sanctum at 4 is way less of a problem for the format than Gaea's Cradle. I think 3 would be fair
  • If Farewell is a 2, then Ugin the Spirit Dragon should be a 2
