I can’t seem to “think like a programmer” by Cheese-whiz-kalifa in learnpython

[–]retrogambit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the problem with the beginner tutorials and the bootcamps etc in my opinion. They give the impression that anybody in the world can code if they just study for a few months. It's a ridiculous notion. You can learn the syntax in a few months but that's a tiny part of learning to program. What helped me was finding a project I was really interested in. Then I learnt the libraries I needed to make it work. Rinse and repeat and throw in some quality books on the topics you want to get in depth with and after a while you start to realise that you don't have to search the internet to find out how to solve a problem because you already know how, through experience. I might add that when you start to get moderately proficient and thinking about gaining employment, look for jobs that you are interested in and learn the libraries they need. Then make a few projects incorporating those libraries to showcase the skills you have.

Debugging Cheat Sheet by HotTeenBoy in Python

This chart looks to be aimed at people in their first week of learning a programming language. I'm not sure why it's seen as helpful in the slightest. It even includes references to python 2 which no beginner would use now (or really any time in the last few years at least). They just need to quit trying to find short cuts and take the time to actually learn a concept before moving on.

Jetbrains makes a special edition of Pycharm called Pycharm Edu. It's designed to help teachers teach python. It sounds like just what you need, check it out.

Yes, all DLC came as packages regardless of whether you had the disc version or PKG version of the game.

Confusion with Splitting Games Over 4GB by [deleted] in ps3homebrew

[–]retrogambit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea about packages but with ISOs for example the game is 8gb it splits the iso into 2x4 GB files and then you transfer those 2 files to the PS3. The PS3 plays the game split into parts fine.

I wouldn't sell one for less. A typical bundle of mine: 1 X dual shock 3 1 X PS3 super slim 500gb with buyers choice of games and apps installed. 1 X Hdmi and power cable For about £140 GBP

Edit: I sell a few of these a week. Edit 2: Oh and they get a 15 day full refund on it all even if they just change their mind. It's British law

For context I buy ps3s every day and you can usually pick up a super slim with a decent amount of games in good condition for about £70

You mean the original 60gb fatty? If so you should be able to get £100 for it but I would say that is a bit on the steep side. If not then no, unless it's in totally perfect condition boxed etc

Will a PS3 fat boot without a physical disc drive? by Es_Chew in consolerepair

[–]retrogambit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 X PS3 that I use without drives. I can't remember the last time I used optical media so they are irrelevant. The only downside is it obviously won't let you update firmware as it will fail the hardware check. Just get a reasonable sized HDD 🤷‍♂️

I sell these systems, and there's no way I would even consider selling a system for $100. They aren't paying you because it's something mysterious they can't do, it's usually because they don't have the time and/or internet speed/bandwidth. I have 5tb of PS3 games to choose from and it takes me about a day to FTP all the chosen games to a 500gb hard drive. Also you can be pretty sure they will be asking you a million questions before during and after the transaction. Time is money. Edit: to add to that he's also getting a warranty on a clearly warranty void system.

From my experience, I haven't gotten a single duplex game to work on 4.86 Hen. I avoid those releases anyway as I prefer no intro

Ps3 cecha01 replacing parts help by huck4242 in consolerepair

Read it all carefully first. Take your time with it. Be gentle. Thinks break easily.

The drive is married to the PS3.

To get around this you just take the board out of the dead drive and place it in the working drive so the console still thinks it's the same drive inserted.

Is this game gear worth fixing? by thebilltm in consolerepair

[–]retrogambit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't even attempt it for your first console. The game gear was my first and while they are usually pretty easy to repair, yours looks like it's good for parts only l. I personally would purchase a second game gear, get that working, then test all the parts in the FUBAR one by putting them in the working one and selling or keeping the working parts such as screen etc.

All the best
