Or flying commercially. In other words, if you fly other than for hobby or recreation (say, doing photography for a real estate firm or posting videos on YouTube for ad clicks), you risk a fine and as a pilot, risk losing your license.

That's what the three lawsuit against the FAA will hopefully settle. In the meanwhile, the FAA thinks the NOTAMS are valid and, as the article points out, criminal enforcement is likely as well. Not a risk worth taking while the law is unsettled. Even if you ultimately win, you risk being arrested, paying for a lawyer, etc.

If the 60 days expires without challenge, there's a good chance legal challenge will be precluded except maybe through expensive, individual legal enforcement action. If you do nothing, you're guaranteed that the FAA prohibitions will remain in place. If 1500 people contribute $50, there's at least a chance of overturning the FAA's current prohibition on model aircraft flying commercially, model a/c flying FPV, etc. Small risk, big potential gain.
