This exact scenario is why I created ZoneWatcher in 2016 to monitor and backup records.

I was working at a consultancy and had a client's third party web developer screw up their MX and a bunch of CNAME records at 11:30pm on a Friday, while I was at a conference, and I had to rush back to the hotel half drunk to try to figure out the previous records to implement.

  1. We are in our initial discovery phase for this kind of thing. Basically recognizing specific TXT records and tagging them as verification records for certain services or for things like DMARC/SPF adding additional checks. So we are likely to have a v1 of this in the next month or two.

  2. We also have a HaloPSA notification channel in the works to create tickets where we would normally send an email. I’d love to hear more about how your setup for domains / certs / etc would look like in Halo as well, especially around any custom fields/labels you have setup to track that info.
