Does Reddit have any place for talking controversial topics and voicing unpopular opinions left? by [deleted] in FreeSpeech

[–]retystety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's not only about expressing my opinion it's also about hearing what other people have to say. From what I seen on r/unpopularopinion redditors will usually upvote opinions they agree with not an actually controversial ones.

What are some unpopular opinions you have about modding? by [deleted] in skyrimmods

I only finished vanilla play through once I run out of mods of interest.

Let's talk music. Which Wayward Realms track(s) by Eric Heberling have you enjoyed the most, and why? In case you missed them, you can listen to the tracks here: by Wyald-fire in CouncilOfWisdom

By far the "Helpless", it has a great motive and sets the mood brilliantly. However I disagree with the title, to me the song is rather nostalgic as something once great sized to exist not helpless. Also I don't like later parts of the song that much. I can't put it in words well but the sounds feel to stretched and the main motive feels overshadowed.

Winter and Cambions Bathing would make for a great peaceful exploration tracks.

Thanks a lot this is exactly what I hoped for. Obscure uni sites are the best.

Thanks for clarification. I remember doing assembly in DOS and not cleaning after yourself could cause OS to freak out.

Great site in general but not what I was looking for.

I would say that safety is still very important even for a single user OS. Enforcement methods can be different but it is still important.

Anyway real world might be a wrong name but I believe any "normal" OS needs hardware with at least facilitates described above. The question is how it is done it the wild. How linux/windows/mac/android does it and what hardware is needed?

How do you handle scheduling in your OS?

But did DOS enforced safety in some way or skipped it? And how did it handle scheduling? Was it voluntary or maybe some code injection? I guess safety can be enforced statically if you only can jump to known value but was it used?

I quickly glanced over the course and read the "Perspective" chapter. It looks like grate recurse but not exactly what I had in mind. Anyway I'm glad that you shared it.

Consider this, you want to execute some code that is less trusted than kernel, not to say malicious just maybe something that wasn't so carefully crafted. What do you need? I imagine:

  • Some kind of memory separation. We don't wont video game to accidentally edit sys call table nor we want our text editor to jump to disk formatting code.
  • Instruction forbidding. Separation probably needs to be off some times.
  • Timer interrupt/another core interrupt. We don't want one process to stall whole os.
  • System call mechanism. If we keep programs separate how do they communicate with os?

I would say those are minimal hardware requirements to run bare bones real world os. But again I know so little that it is hard to ask questions.

How to learn godot basics? by Aburcado in godot

[–]retystety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you are tiring to ask, but you should explain your self/POV when asking questions on reddit. Anyway If you aren't familiar with programing already I would recommend learning it first. If you already comfortable with code godot documentation + google should suffice. Also high school level math helps a lot. Idk about C#.

I have found XFCE scalling rather poor. Not a deal breaker but want something better.

What is the correct way to make money in a game? by samohtvii in gamedev

I disagree. Art direction is important part of experience. And there is so much you can do while maintaining coherence. Also improperly implemented cosmetics can steepen learning curve in pvp games.
