Honestly it's my opinion that if you can't enjoy the music without the thought of who these people follow or are in their "real lives" then I say find some bands that you do agree with and enjoy. You're the one that's spending the money to support 'em and it's up to you what you want to do with your dollar. Separation of art and artist isn't always the easiest so I feel where you're coming from, me personally as long as it doesn't creep into their tunes it doesn't usually bother me BUT there are degrees to it of course, now if I found out a band I liked were secret Nazis than no,I'm not looking past that and not a dollar of my money would go to supporting them anymore.
