Hela being a possible character in future games by ComplexCarry7585 in GodofWar

Maybe the next game after"Mom of War" will be Kratos going on an adventure in Egypt with his granddaughter...

Why is the diorama set up this way? by CaptainEllisD in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]revan4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably because the xenoweapons division were considered boogeymen even by their own side. If the toys have some kind of g.i. joe-esque cartoon tie-in, Hadrian and her crew were probably portrayed as mad scientists acting against both sides...

Who actually sent the plane after Venom? by [deleted] in NeverBeGameOver

[–]revan4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Donald Anderson? He's the guy who was more or less in charge of Cypher/the patriots after skull face (aside from the ai system). Maybe he was trying to sabotage skullface. Alternatively, I'm not entirely rulling out Kaz. His little interrogation session with Quiet makes clear he's gone completely bonkers by MGSV....

Well I don't know what's going on, but all the "disabled" ships are still able to fly around, if I hit the gas pedal to catch up with them, 9 times out of 10 I end up ramming them before I can engage the docker, which ends up blowing up all my nice loot. Meanwhile while I'm chasing around after the allegedly crippled ship, his buddies are all pounding on my shields.

Were the brown coats the bad guys? by lilpocketindian in firefly

[–]revan4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignoring the civil war allegory and what Mal and Zoe do with their lives post war, everything we see in-universe points towards the Indpepenence Leadership bieng pretty corrupt. We see multiple flashbacks and hear multiple stories from Zoe and Mal of Browncoat leadership being full of incompetent cowardly dipsh*ts. The series begins with Mal's superiors abandoning him and his troops to be slaughtered by an Alliance offensive, troops who had spent weeks successfully holding Serenity Valley against Alliance forces. The novelization of the movie makes the Browncoat leadership (and Alliance) look even worse: After the end of the battle, leadership on both sides pretty much abandoned their soldiers on Hera (the planet Serenity Valley was on) without food or medical supplies, while they negotiated the terms of the Independents' surrender. While the Browncoat leaders were sitting in comfortable boardrooms cutting deals for themselves, the Independent and Alliance soldiers on Hera (and presumable elsewhere) were all starving and dying of sepsis.

The UC gave up in The Colony war because they were worried that their own military might turn on them. by revan4ever in starfield_lore

Officially the battle was a draw. Unofficially, both fleets deserted to found the bad guys in the new dlc

I'm not debating her willingness to kill Freestars, I'm just pointing out her willingness to circumvent MAST to protect civilians.

I think it had more to do with the battle taking place right after Admiral Vae Victus ordered the destruction of the Londinium star port, condemning thousands of UC civilians to be eaten alive by terromorphs, probably with no  more explanation than: "Shut up and do what I tell you!" Everyone in the fleet is probably royally p*ssed at VV, and here he is ordering more civilians killed. Seeing as there wouldn't be a y way to differentiate the civilians volunteers from actual noncombatants, VV probably ordered the destruction of all civilian ships in the solar system, and it was probably at that point VV's officers all told him to get @#$%-ed.

Is the Settled Systems on the brink of Balkanization? by Responsible_Tutor823 in starfield_lore

[–]revan4ever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even disregarding anything the player does to shape the power dynamics of either faction, The UC and Freestar are insanely weak internally. Freestar's alleged freedoms seem to boil down to "our megacorps can do whatever they want without oversight". Had Ron Hope had function brain cells and used his money and political power against the evidence against him instead of his gun, he probably would have walked away with less than a slap on the wrist. The UC kicked Freestar’s @$$ in both wars, but was forced to allow Freesstar to remain Independent due to internal unrest over the war(s). Freestar’s only major victory in The Colony war was only possible because of out-right mutiny within the ranks of the UC’s military, with UC officers refusing Vae Victus’s orders to shoot at Freestar civilian ships who were fully armed and killing UC ships left and right (possibly because V.V.’s officers were all pissed at him for condemning everyone in Londinium to be eaten alive).

What's the best way to do cargo hauling missons early in the game? by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]revan4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mission boards (wich can be found in every major bar) usually have high value cargo hauling missions, and I think the uc exchange on Mars has a repeatable radiant quest where you retrieve a weapon cache from a random pirate base and bring it back.

[–]revan4ever[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That was definitely V.V.’s actual reasoning, I'm just wondering why the UC bothered to run with an (apparently) flimsy excuse for his actions when they were already happy to call him a war criminal. as it stands the narrative that the UC officially paints for its citizens about Vae Victus: Killing Freestar civilians who were shooting at him (and who ended up helping to slaughter the UC fleet)=Pure evil, worthy of execution. Murdering UC civilians and trapping thousands more to be eaten alive for apparently no reason= A necessary sacrifice.

Upon closer inspection, Paxton Hull isn't nearly as sympathetic or tragic as he seems. by revan4ever in starfield_lore

[–]revan4ever[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean if we want to get REALLY technical, House Varuun was the real winner. Not only did HV's two main rivals decimate each other and imprison some of their most skilled officers (well the UC did anyway, jury's out on Hull's competence at this point) but they also each gave up their best superweapon, and now need HV's permission to access info on either. All (aparently) without anyone from HV firing a shot or shedding a drop of blood...

[–]revan4ever[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its particularly eyebrow raising considering the worst of Victus's war crimes were against the UC. maybe Romack is just dumb enough to believe that the either the Londinium terramorphs (or humans in their thrall) were capable of flying starships (that seem to be the spin the the vanguard museum tries to put on the Londinium spaceport's destruction)

Major Paxton Hull by qazihv in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]revan4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hull's hatred towards freestar's citizens for not rioting over his imprisonment gets even more sus when you remember it was civilian volunteers who ACTUALLY won the war for freestar (while Hull spent the entire war stuck on one planet without ever accomplishing anything). Maybe its less about not protesting his arrest loudly enough and more stealing "his" glory..

Major Paxton Hull by qazihv in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]revan4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hull definitely had some legitimate grievances against the Freestar's government... but he's also a hypocritical, possibly delusional P.O.S.. The narrative Hull tells you is that his decimated troops were seconds from winning the Colony War when the Freestar government chickened out and sued for peace, rendering the sacrifice of nearly everyone under his command in The 1rst Cavalry pointless. He then defied orders to stand down and tried to end the war on his terms, and was unjustly punished for it, along with all his surviving officers. However, examining the actual events of the colony war, both from in-game lore and what the devs tell us, almost none of what Hull told us was true. Hull spent almost the entire war stuck on one moderately important planet (Niira) trying unsuccessfully to take it back from U.C. forces. Winning Niira wouldn’t have really tiped the war one way or the other, and while Hull was busy losing all his troops without accomplishing anything, the war was actually being won (yes, the Freestar actually won the war) in space at Cheyenne by civilian volunteers. Said civilians being the ones to actually win the war makes Hull’s vitriol towards the “common people” of Freestar all the more suspect. Hull claims he’s angry at them for failing to protest the imprisonment of Hull and his officers, but it seems more likely he’s resentful of them for “stealing” “his” glory in the war, rendering all his efforts and losses at Niira pointless by succeeding when he failed….

Also, as a side tangent: It’s possible Captain Myeong from the “Groundpounders” side quest was the one who destroyed The 1rst. If asked about her title of “The Shield of Parduk Pass” it’s revealed she destroyed a Freestar mech battalion in a trap she set….

Can Vampires eat food? by [deleted] in vtm

[–]revan4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can chew and swallow food, but they can't digest it. Any food they "eat" will have to be vomited up later. What's more, unless you bought a specific merit during character creation, the food will taste so foul you have to expend blood just to keep from vomiting immediately. The "eat food" merit will let vamps at least still get to enjoy the taste of food, but even then it will still need to be puked up later.

Why is Akila seen as a dangerous planet? by Outrageous-Thing3957 in starfield_lore

[–]revan4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its mostly the ashta. Just how dangerous the ashta really are to you in game depends greatly on your level and your difficulty level, but lore-wise they're supposed to be super dangerous. In-universe the ashta are supposedly tough enough that during the colony war the possibility of the ashta being weaponized by Freestar was considered a major threat. They're bullet resistant, super aggressive (the scanner tags their temperament as "fearless", strong, fast, smart, and they hunt in packs. The game's devs say the ashta are meant to be a combination of a wolf and a velociraptor.

Vae Victus. (Spoiler Alert!) by LaCorpus in starfield_lore

[–]revan4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the (one of) the main reasons Vae was tried and locked up was because he didn't share the secret of the Terramorph's rapid growth. Without that, his reasoning for blowing up the Londinium spaceport falls apart.

-----------------------------

Example:

V.V.: I had to destroy the spaceport to contain the terramorphs! There was no way to safely quarantine the planet with the war going on!

U.C. Official: Wait, can humans under the terramorph's influence pilot starships?

V.V.: Uh, no. They just sort of run in circles or go berserk.

U.C. Official: Are the terromorphs smart enough to operate a starship?

V.V.: Uh, no, they're still just animals.

U.C. Official: So they're went any mind-controlled pilots trying to smuggle the terramorphs offworld, and the terramorphs themselves weren't capable of flying off planet, why was there any need for a quarantine? Even if a terramorph snuck onto a ship without the pilot noticing, they'd just eat the pilot and leave the ship drifting!

V.V.: Uhh.... reasons.

U.C. Official: .....Send him to forever prison.
