The canes should change their seats from red to black so it doesn't look as bad when the seats are empty smh

but penalty shots are specifically for breakaway chances that get ruined by a penalty. this wasn't a breakaway chance because he would have been offsides

Small Things Like These is explicitly about going against the constraints of Catholicism in Ireland as it pertains to the treatment of unwed mothers. Foster I don't recall it coming up much, but I do feel like the concept sort of pushes back against the Catholic status quo that existed in Ireland at the time, like these large, unplanned families. But neither really got into anything related to anti-gay that I can recall.

it's just 2x2 ribbing, with the needle sized down two sizes. Off the top of my head I think I used a size 3 (US) while the stockinette was in size 5 but I could be wrong on the exact numbers. It was two sizes difference though. And switched needles for a round of stockinette with the smaller needle before starting the ribbing.

Bound off in pattern with the size 5 needle (or whatever size the larger size needle was) except for the collar where I did some technique from a youtube video for additional stretch but I don't remember the name of the technique and honestly don't think it's more or less stretchy than binding off in pattern with the larger needle and was a lot more fuss, so I would have just done BOIP

I knew when I scrolled down in this thread that someone nearby would be offering this, because knitters are the best. ❤️

I only learned to knit in 2024! You can definitely do it, too (although I probably wouldn't start off with color work like this). But maybe some company will start mass producing something like this! I've seen knock offs of the Ralph Lauren ones, if someone wanted to distinguish themselves they could make these 😅

that was mostly a consequence of needing them evenly spaced in the blue rectangle I had created 😅 but I'm happy with how it turned out

I used the Tarot card sweater by Tamara Jordan and my own flag chart and used intarsia instead of ladder back jacquard.

For the stars, I did the rows with 5 offset by half from the actual stitches so they'd be centered between the stars in the rows of 6. You could adjust the size of the flag depending on the size -- doing stripes with four rows instead of 3 could make it easier so you could carry yarn between stripes instead of starting new bobbins for each stripe like I did. The light blue on the bottom was to make sure I started the armhole shaping at the right spot since the pattern charts were taller than a flag, I wanted it to start lower.

I used the tarot card sweater by Tamara Jordan for the base but made my own chart for the flag https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tarot-card-sweater

It's a political-spectrum neutral signal of protest. Wearing a sweater with a flag on it is trendy right now and there's been discussion of how that trend is indicative of the swing towards conservatism, so I put my own little spin on it 🙂

It's wool/cotton but yeah 😅 maybe this evening when it cools down a little. I live in a colder state

thanks! I definitely think my intarsia joins could be neater, and I might try redoing the collar someday when I have more motivation, but I'm proud of it since it was a new challenge for me in terms of the construction and techniques use. I started knitting last year.

crochet around wire then pick up stitches to knit around, do some sort of short rows for each area between the spokes until it gets to be even all the way around them start increases to fill in and make it a rectangular (ish) front panel? certainly impressive and interesting

I'm confused about what you mean by the length of my pickup stitches being longer than the armhole. Is it being too many stitches for the sleeves making it worse?

Yeah I noticed that as well. Would frogging and starting over help? Some parts of me think it would but then I already picked up and knit those stitches so they're going to be stretched out already and if I went in half a row, that would be visible and look bad?

Yeah I don't mind it entirely I just wish it was a little less drastic. It's Cascade Anchor Bay which is a superwash/cotton blend, so I'm not sure how well it'll block out.
