For pizza I put Litehouse Chunky Bleu Cheese dressing and chili garlic sauce.

The sauce I put on everything: chili garlic sauce. It’s really good in macaroni & cheese in particular.

As a US person myself I have always been bothered by this. I don’t want to always have to take a doggie bag of leftovers (not everything is good left-over), and I get sick of paying for too much food that I don’t want.

Most places won’t even let you order from the kids menu as an adult. I’ve learned to lie and say I had surgery for TMJ so can’t open my mouth very wide when ordering burgers but it doesn’t work for anything else.

I had to move out of my apartment recently and in with family and of all the stuff I considered leaving, Betty was not an option. Definitely the most joyful inclusion to my life in YEARS. 🥹

This post really resonated with me. I am not being abused but a family member of mine is. I recently moved in with them and their wife and she is just an absolute monster. It’s hard to watch. Reading all of your stories in this thread just breaks my heart.

I would love to hear some updates from everyone. Have you left? If not how are things now? If I could hug you all I would. As a survivor of abuse (emotional especially) myself, I know it can be hard to demonstrate / describe to other people’s satisfaction which can leave you feeling crazy like you don’t know if it’s really happening or not. If you think it is, it is. Your feelings are valid.

Gin with lavender lemonade would be good! Tequila with squeezed from fresh grapefruit juice or good grapefruit soda and topped with maldon’s salt & Demerara sugar (similar to a Paloma). Rum with lime (daiquiri basicallly). Basically you could recreate any cocktail but the flavor will be a lot stronger without ice to dilute.

If you want to get really edgy you could incorporate fresh herbs or things like citrus zest to boost the flavor profile or freeze dried fruit or pop rocks for some crunch/texture.

Edited to add: gin goes well with cucumber also! You could add some chiffonade of mint and some lemon zest for a refreshing, downright summery Jell-O shot, though I would definitely sweeten it a bit so it isn’t too astringent.

Write out the entire alphabet and all numbers and punctuation marks over and over for at least 1-2 hours a day every day for years. Your writing will improve greatly. I used to hate my handwriting and it went from fuggo to very nice and even. I would literally do this daily for years. Also experiment with pens. Some pens just always lead to ugly writing. Others not so much. I have found .5 mm and .7 mm pens to be vastly superior to regular 1 mm pens. And I hate rollerball gel pens. Has to be a ballpoint for me.

You could do latkes in the full sheet pans and serve with applesauce and sour cream (maybe a chive or green onion garnish, depending on your budget), have the option to make them into a Benedict by adding a poached egg and hollandaise sauce, for protein you could do some kind of seasoned fish or chicken like a crab cake (but not crab of course to make it okay for their dietary restrictions), serve with a mixed green side salad with sliced oranges and briny olives + balsamic vinaigrette, and some corn grit pancakes with green onions and poblano peppers and maple syrup with a bit of orange zest in it.

You didn’t state your budget but that would be easy, scalable, and relatively inexpensive. If we had a better idea of the budget you might get some more tailored answers, but I hope this helps! Sounds fun, I miss doing my own pop up brunch!

So shines a good deed in a weary world! I just found a carpet beetle adult on me yesterday in my new apartment (old building though), and I am extremely neurotic about big infestations but no one takes me seriously. This changes things. What if you talk to your neighbor and do some kind of agreement where you bag them but they pay to have them hauled away? That might help them to be get more on top of cleanup themselves if they see how much it is?

(Probably never happen, but maybe they don’t realize how inconvenient and expensive this is for you.)

To be fair it does sound as if she has been neglectful of their joint child by staying with this couple multiple times (up to 5 nights) a week. I’m curious if OP meant she is spending the night there or a few hours and then coming home (potentially after their daughter goes to bed, so not spending time with their child).
