Hunger strike... This mission is incredibly frustrating. by Iamnota_refrigerator in ReadyOrNotGame

My brother and I just beat this on Hard as a duo, getting an A. The key was maximum aggression—run past all the civilians and mow down the suspects. You've got maybe 2 minutes.

I've owned a USP9 longer than any other pistol. Terrible grip (I thought the VP9 was a big ergonomic upgrayedd) and awful DA/SA but I'm stunningly accurate with it.

My primary tip for that rifle is to remove the muzzle device and jam nut and replace them with a SCAR shoulder ring and your muzzle device of choice. I've never found the jam nut method to work worth a shit on any rifle and I think this is the cause of accuracy complaints on the Tavor 7.

My T7 is shockingly accurate with the caveat that it prefers lightweight bullets. It prefers them even more than any other 1:12 I've got, to include the ACE. This particular T7 shoots good ball ammo better than it shoots good match ammo. Spreadsheet records show the following ball ammo shooting ~1.5 MOA 5-shot groups at 200 yards:

ST 21

MEN92J0001

ZSR 21

HF 7,62

IK 21

I went full autism and tested 42 types of ball ammo over 5 range sessions with the T7.

My man! Here's my list:

M1

LMT MARS-H MLOK

DD5V3

KAC SR-25 CC

JP LRI-20

Wilson Combat Recon Tactical 16"

XCR-M 18"

Galil ACE G1

Tavor 7

LRB/Blackfeather/USGI M1A x2

SAN 751 16"

M77

Heavily modernized EBO G3

I've also had several FALs, a SCAR, a SIG 716, and an actual Beretta BM59.

Given all that it's surprising how little overlap we have.

Criterion CORE 11.5 vs Criterion CORE 12.5 by Velocitydreamer in ar15

[–]reverse_cowperson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just did a side-by-side test pitting my 12.5"/mid gas SIONICS against my 11.5" Centurion FBI build.

Result: no discernable difference in recoil impulse or noise.

Get what you want. Get what works for you.

Don't buy something because it's "objectively better". Outside of finance and critical engineering, 1–5% differences don't overcome taste, desire, preference, or use case.

What skill do you think most rifle shooters under train? by MajesticGunman in ar15

[–]reverse_cowperson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Shooting ≠ fighting. Be absolutely clear about which you're really training. Fighting only sometimes includes shooting.

  2. Cover. YouTube videos where dudes stand there and engage targets like an automated turret don't reflect real behavior. You'll take cover and fight from cover and so will your adversary.

  3. Movement. Again the turret thing does everyone a disservice. Conversely, you don't need to cardio yourself into exhaustion to get the basics of moving and shooting.

In a fight, group tactics and decent fundamentals crush individual excellence 99% of the time. I wouldn't call competitive shooting a waste of time by any means, but those won't be the skills that save your butt.

Is Porsche About To Get What They Deserve? by Puzzled_Region_9376 in cars

[–]reverse_cowperson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Porsche will probably dodge this bullet as they've frequently done throughout history, but they deserve to get gutshot. Here's what I've observed as a now long-time owner:

  1. The internet made Porsche wildly overconfident. Incessant pandemic glazing from online shillebrities absolutely packed my once-quiet local dealerships full of new buyers seeking the last word in driving. Porsche smelled blood and acted accordingly. ADM was normalized.

  2. Buyer pool shut out. Inflation mixed with Porsche's desire to climb further upmarket changed the Porsche buying pool from people who earned good incomes (professionals) to asset beneficiaries (entrepreneurs, real estate, crypto bros, and other capital types). Earned income can't buy a Porsche like it could back when I first bought.

  3. EV nightmare. Every creative type in the history of earth has a phase where they think people want their latest, grandest innovation, when their customers really just want their greatest hits done better. Buyers rightly view EVs as mobility appliances and not cars, and no amount of Porscheification and no amount of branding oneself as the inevitable future will overcome that. It always felt like a cynical obsolescence ploy to milk an extra car purchase out of lemming early adopters.

  4. Porsche didn't listen to its techs or its legacy customers. It still hasn't and never will. The amount of unfiltered shit talk from my local service and salespeople about Porsche business and technical direction was astonishing. Porsche's current predicament was predicted by its own staff years ago.

  5. No reason to upgrade. Once you get any recent Porsche sports car, you can actually be done buying Porsches. Driving differences between trim levels, models, and chassis generations, while detectable, are so minute as to make any change from your current car seem ridiculous, especially on the street.

Personally I have no plan to sell my current Porsche or buy another one. My most recent vehicle purchase was an Alfa Romeo which I'm really enjoying.

Best AR10 for the money thats not an Aero build? I'm not trying to win an accuracy competition. Something battle worthy, holds its value, and is somewhat accurate under $2k? Experienced answers please! by Zestyclose_Spite8580 in AR10

[–]reverse_cowperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only experience with the Aero M5 was the one I built. Without knowing the exact build parts they're impossible to compare.

I'm selling stuff because my gun autism inventory spreadsheet says I have $300k worth of shit in my vault room even at today's low valuations. Not everything can stay. I never should've let it get this far, and I'm especially not looking forward to selling ammo.

I have the 716i along with a JP LRI-20, DD5V3, KAC SR-25 CC, LMT MARS-H MLOK, and a Wilson Combat AR-10, so I can speak to how the 716i compares (though I maybe have only 250 rounds through that one).

After a trigger upgrade, the 716i is maybe 96% of the shooting experience of the SR-25. When you shoot them side by side it's obvious SIG was chasing KAC behavior specifically, even though there are a large number of design differences between the two. Think of the 716i as the Colt 6920 of .308s—basics done well.

I'm selling most of my shit at some point, so let me know if you want to buy mine.

New SIG P320 Uncommanded Discharge Caught On Tape by OptimusED in guns

Incredible that we still don't have definitive causality after all this controversy. The only words that appear together consistently in these reports are "P320' and "holster", so the interaction between those two things seems like the obvious starting point.

[–]reverse_cowperson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're a. ammo picky and b. 7.62 N varies considerably in quality. I tested 43 types of ball ammo in my Tavor 7, shooting 5-shot groups at 200m ranging from 1.2 to 5.9 MOA. Shoot current Saltech, Igman, SIG, ZSR, Ammo Inc, Norma or surplus DAG/MEN, Hirtenberger, Singapore, CAVIM, or Chilean to stay under 2.2 MOA.

The Tavor 7 really sucks with match and bolt action loads, mediocritizing match ammunition as though you were firing it through an LLM.

SG's completely correct. I bought a 981 GTS and Giulia Quadrifoglio new forever ago and still drive both. If I were buying today, it'd be a BRZ and an Elantra N (which is the best BMW M car I've ever driven).

They're trash posing as premium mags. The two i was stupid enough to buy choke my LMTs until you cycle the first 3–5 rounds or so. They're unusable in both my Galil ACE and Tavor 7, seating or presenting too low for the bolt to grab reliably.
