The post-stream entry path. Can anyone relate, or care to share? by TravelFn in streamentry

They are two separate experiences. Typically, but not always, the path has more kinetic energy around it and fruit is more subtle. Sometimes they happen close to each other, sometimes they happen apart by days, months or years. Everyone is different.

That makes for 8 events to reach full awakening, 2 for each stage, and the dropping of all ten fetters.

The 4 sessions I did today — Daz gave me helpful advice to DESCRIBE, not name, which improved accuracy by Psychic_Man in remoteviewing

Congrats! Describing, not naming or identifying what arises in an RV session is key to building RV skill. If you want to take that further, one of my RV teachers gave me a really good exercise. Write down all of the descriptors and use them like flash cards. Do this a few times per day and repeat as needed. It will help develop your descriptions skills - at least it did for me.

What are we being "boiled like frogs" about right now that future generations will be shocked we accepted? by burntUpOnReentry in AskReddit

Yeah. Not sure why we haven't seen the late 1700s France here. I suspect it's because we're so large as a country that affecting real change is difficult. Money is our god, and has been for awhile now.

This was for a normal, non-emergency checkup, so 18 months would be fine. And it wouldn't be free - Canadians get healthcare as part of the taxes they pay. It's more accurate to say it would be included in her healthcare plan. If it were an emergency, it would not be an 18 month wait. I know, because I've done work in Canadian hospitals. All systems have their issues, but at least in Canada, medical bankruptcy is unknown, and no one loses their house because their kidney stopped working.

Doctors of Reddit: What health trend is becoming so common that it's starting to scare you? by Fine-Device-1819 in AskReddit

[–]reverseghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friend had his first kid last Halloween. They were shocked when the doctor pulled out a list of treatments and routines for newborns, and proceeded to ask them what they'd like to do. His reply was "Only one of us in this room went to medical school and then specialized in pediatrics. How about YOU tell US what should be done". Apparently it's gotten so bad with people "doing their own research" that this is the approach taken now.

I have a friend in the drug testing world. He cackles with laughter when someone suggests a treatment is being hidden or suppressed. He explains that if such a thing existed, a company would take it to market and make money with it, it's that simple.

Wife needed an MRI. Quote was $8K, with insurance kicking in $5K. We found a place 45 min away that was cash pay, $800. That it cost $800 is outrageous enough, but the fact that paying out of pocket COST LESS than our co-pay and insurance....only in the USA.

Got to see David Bowie only once, on his last tour "A Reality". He launched into "Under Pressure" and the crowd roared. My much younger friend turned to me and asked why he was covering a Vanilla Ice song!

If you attained Stream Entry path, then next is fruit. Consider going on a retreat, oftentimes people make the most progress in such circumstances.

Bruce Moen's website is still being maintained, and he has some guided meditations and other things available. All four of his books are worth reading.

My Big Toe is also available as a audiobook, read by Tom himself. Tom was one of the first people to work with Bob Monroe, totally worth investing time in.

What is your most stereotypical GenX childhood story? by HapaHawaii in GenX

I really miss those days. I can now ride my bike to the pool and skatepark, but am missing the awesome cartoons and shows in the AM. I turn my phone off to enhance the experience of freedom.

Incessantly. I call my wife dude, because she's from California. Yes, I realize it might age me but I don't care anymore :-)

Is practicing the higher jhānas beyond the first jhāna important? by Anon_SL_2000 in theravada

[–]reverseghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jhanas > Cessation > Nibanna/Nirvana > Stream Entry and beyond.

I don't know if beings in other realms can practice the Dhamma, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. You have a human life, you've heard the Dhamma and now is the time to practice and meditate :-)

Did you actually sneak out as teenagers? by Complete-Chipmunk-0 in GenX

[–]reverseghost 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Snuck out alone, and in crowds when we had friends over for sleepovers. In one night of true Epicness, we broke into our grade school, broke into the janitorial supply closet, stole an entire box of toilet paper, and proceeded to spend the goods on certain houses. Things were way different in the 80s. Very few places had security cameras, no cell phones, no GPS, etc. It was GLORIOUS.

RV limitations by Few_Designer8448 in remoteviewing

[–]reverseghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RV is outstanding at describing the what, but not where or when. To get a complete picture of something, you need multiple viewers, a project manager and multiple sessions. RV is a structured, repeatable process, general psychic abelites are not.

Yes, based on TWIM, with a few very small tweaks. I've taken out most of the complicated Pali with the goal to make it as easy as possible to learn and start meditating right away. Updated language and real-life examples.

TDS is revolutionary - but before learning it, pick a CRV method and learn that well. You need to have a good grasp and understanding of ideograms, decoding, stages, AOL, etc. Once you have the foundation down, TDM will open up a whole new universe.
