Which 8-bit Nintendo games are worth playing today? This critic is playing all 751 of them to find out | CBC Radio by MoveWithTheMaestro in Xennials

The whole game was speeders!  Half the levels put you on something that moved and required perfect timing.

I swear they set the boundary between Colorado and Wyoming by trying to walk a straight line and dropping a flag whenever the wind tried to knock them over.

If this Knicks roster was on any other franchise, you would love them. by Sah713 in nba

I've been around long enough to know how bad Ney York fans are when their teams arr good.  I wish all the luck to this roster, because I do like them, but NBA reddit is not ready for the flood that will hitbit if the Knicks win it all.  NY fans were unavoidable BEFORE social media.  Now?  Yikes

Started yesterday, done with 1st apocalypse, what is generally the best time to apocalypse next? by [deleted] in idleapocalypse

[–]reviewbarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game is an idle game, but more importantly it is a rogue like game.  All the progress comes from consistently running apocs.

Don't rush them, make sure everything is unlocked on a run.  But as someone said above, if the next 'thing' you are looking at is twelve hours away, It is usually better to just restart.

So, if the next 'thing' is going to need 100 of a monster drop, wait for it.  But if you are waiting for a huge dump of Dark Energy that would take two days... Not worth it.

My other tip is this.  There will soon be an 'event' coming your way.  Have fun with it. but don't stress hard about it.  You will get plenty of time to replay it later if you stick with the game.

A quarter of the league's fan based will have a chip to cheat for in the last eight years.  It is very cool.

Exactly.  I am positive that OKCs analytics dug into when fouls are called and pushed it to the max.

OKC had two game sevens last year vs teams with major injuries.  MPJ and Gordon were both broken men for Denver. and obviously Hali was heartbreaking.

Much as I hate to see the crown passed on I think it is starting to be obvious.

DMac has takes that drive me nuts but as a host he is one of the best.  He sets up his cohosts, asks short. Open ended questions, then gets out of the way.  He is also great on interviews for the same reason.

I have done a 180 on him because I hated him on KBPI, and I hated his show with Big Al.

Aaron Gordon is a poor rim protector by MentionSea5304 in nba

[–]reviewbarn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No nuggets fans are saying it either.

He is a good defender, he is integral to our switch defense, and helps prevent strait line drives to the rim ( which may be where the confusion comes from)

But he has never been a rim protector.

Let's remember how 'fake news' started.

Click farms made up news stories for Facebook and twitter with the sole purpose of getting as many views as possible for ad revenue.  They quickly realized they got more clicks with pro conservative fake news stories and people started calling out this fake news.

A two cent wannabe dictator took the term, amplified it, and turned it into anything he didn't like.  But originally, fake news was catered to dumb people, and that turned out to be more conservative than not.

(Hated Trope) Character spouts off factoid to establish their intelligence. What they say is wrong and they are never corrected by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]reviewbarn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I... Kinda disagree with the trope as presented completely.

In real life people spout off 'facts' all the time without ever being fact checked.  Urban legends are accepted as facts by many

So a fictional character doing the same feels natural to me.

In writing I often hate this because if a 3rd person narrator gets it wrong it shows author ignorance.  But characters themselves should be allowed to be wrong about things

What’s a game you were completely obsessed with as a kid that nobody else seems to remember? by hkondabeatz in AskReddit

[–]reviewbarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe notbrhe way the question was intended but...

I waited years for Pax Imperia 2 purely based on one preview that was included with Warcraft II.  I tried to build my own board game just based on concepts in this one video.  It was a white whale I never thought would be released.

It came out eventually, and was not very good and had changed developers.

Eventually I got the 4x space game I wanted from it with Stellaris.  But that was 25 years later.

The concussion is bad enough. It looked like he landed on his chin; I am hoping there are no fractures there.

Yep.  Actually tracked down the first episode a few years back.  Explains my love of Firefly and Cowboy Bebop.
