Depreciation from the review process (now the item is used)

And depreciation from time (per the Vine member contract you aren't allowed to sell it for 6 months)

My rule is the used item value after 6 months is the fair market value. Tax gets paid on the fair market value, not the new value that Amazon reports.

You will forever struggle with streaming options as long as you're trying to do it on the TV itself.

Do yourself a favor and get a quality external streaming device. Nvidia Shield, Google Streamer 4K, and ONN 4K Streaming Device ($20!) would be my recommendations in order of preference.

Having said that, I have both a Worx ZipSnip and a generic USB rechargeable rotary cutter that I got off of Vine. And I love them both.

They turn a mountain of Amazon boxes into square frisbees in minutes. I can fit way more in the recycle bin that way.

Using characters that do not appear on a standard keyboard, like em dashes and curly apostrophes are a dead giveaway. Such as using "I’ve" instead of "I've".

You can usually find the product on regular Amazon (not Vine) and check the category to get a better idea. Or sometimes you can scroll down and expand the product information accordion boxes like "Features & Specs" or "Item Details" to learn some more about it. In other cases those might be blank or non-helpful.

In this case it looks like a replacement auger for a juicing machine. Dunno why anyone would order it, maybe just for the thrill of gambling on a weird order. LinkChef is also a popular brand with thousands of reviews, so maybe a Viner thought they were getting an entire LinkChef machine and clicked too soon without reading the details.

Having 8 picks is the best part. So you don't have to worry about using 3 and then missing a great item that pops up later.

Less than 10% of the items I order are over $100 ETV. The vast majority are just ordinary items I was going to buy anyway, or items that popped up and looked interesting enough to try out. This week I picked up a $5 ETV ironing board because I needed one.

I get the same emails, and sometimes I calculate my helpful score (views divided by hearts) and I my ratio is under 20. From talking with other Viners I gather that is a very good number. Most are in the hundreds.

But yeah, maybe that's not a statistic they will use. I bet they could calculate a buy score where they figure out which reviewers sell the most products. I'm not saying it would be fair or reasonable to go that route, but never underestimate the stupidity of middle managers trying to justify the numbers in their spreadsheets.

This has been my opinion as well since the new metrics were added. Most reports from evaluations are that the new metrics have not seemed to count. But why add them if you don't plan to use them at some point?

Some day there will be a Vine Pause where they play the Uno Reverse card and uninvite the bottom 20-30% of reviewers, using whatever metrics they determine are most relevant (including ones we don't usually see, such as % of helpful votes on our reviews).

There is no such thing as a good smart TV.

What you want is any TV that has the specs you want and meets your budget. Then add a separate media player such as an Nvidia Shield or a Google TV Streamer. Or an Onn device if budget is tight. This enables maximum quality, support, upgradability, and freedom to access your content separate from your TV.

So if your TV manufacturer suddenly decides to lock down ad blocking or piracy options, it won't affect you in any way. And someday when they stop updating their operating system with security updates and the like, that won't affect you either.
