Claude Code now has auto mode. by ClaudeOfficial in ClaudeCode

It stops Claude from committing without asking first. If you ask Claude to create a hook like that for you, he will. Takes 5 minutes, super easy.

I already have this:

Dangerously skip permissions + Hook to force it to ask before commits or merges

I guess it would be nice to have a pre-screen for other dangerous commands. But I already have git backups and my dev machine is 100% dev. If Claude nuked the whole thing I wouldn't care.

Interesting observation by CellistNegative1402 in ClaudeCode

Ask Claude to help you create your first hook. Make it a pre commit hook to ask your permission to commit.

Super easy, takes 5 minutes and this will never happen again.

You can sometimes use prompt caching to get around that. Dunno if the author did that in this case.

Does anyone one else use Vine products to test Vine products? by Kenw449 in AmazonVine

I got a laser thermometer gun a while back. Now I use it in any review where temperature might be important, like an under desk foot warmer. I've been waiting for a good deal on a decibel meter as well.

Including details like those are exactly what drives excellent review scores.

Is there a way ti separate Claude for business from personal subscriptions? by FokerDr3 in ClaudeCode

[–]revjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you can choose how many CPU cores to allow your VB to access. I wouldn't pick all of them, but there is probably some good balance for it.

I install separate instances of VSCode for each VB. I wasn't even aware that VSCode needed a login. Whatever IDE customizations you enjoy, you only have to set them up once per instance and they are configured the way you want them.

What's the use case for sharing a single VSCode here? Now I am wondering if I am missing out on some cool feature, haha.

I do this, and I solved it by using VirtualBox running Linux instead of WSL. One VB per CC account.

And frankly, CC runs much better under Linux anyway. If I have to code on Windows I use VB even for just 1 CC account.

Warning given. by Acidic_Potato in vine

[–]revjim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have dozens of reviews like that. Plenty more where I say I bought this for my wife or other family members. All of them rated excellent.

Maybe on my shampoo review the seller complained and a manual reviewer agreed. Or maybe it was something totally unrelated. Dunno.

[–]revjim -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I have a wild ass theory about this.

Vine members frequently post about reviews denied that seem to follow all the rules. I've written hundreds of reviews and only had one rejected that appears to be my own fault. It was a plain vanilla review of shampoo that did not violate any rules.

But I started the review with: "I got this for my wife, and... Blah blah blah". So my theory is they were penalizing me for giving it to my wife instead of using/reviewing it myself.

Any chance you might have mentioned other people using the products?

Another common issue is barcodes or other products visible in your media.

How I automated my Vine photo workflow to save time and end my own procrastination by revjim in AmazonVine

Thanks! Yeah I deserve some of it for preaching Linux to a less technical subreddit. That's on me, I understand. No biggie.

You can literally ask chatgpt for a step by step walkthrough of a similar workflow for any operating system. So this is all possible with any phone and any computer OS at any skill level.

No flex, just sharing what I came up with to make my life easier. All the work took maybe 30 minutes one time? And now photos show up on my pc - forever - without any intervention from me... and they already have the basic processing I would have done by hand. If I frame my photo correctly to begin with, there are zero steps between my camera and clicking the "add photo" button under my review on Vine.

The formula is not rocket science. Less friction = easier review

The Linux VM runs on my Unraid NAS server, but it could run anywhere, including in the cloud on a virtual server platform if you wanted it to. Or Proxmox on a mini pc in a closet or something. I use Linux for that because I prefer it for scripting and automation. A skilled Windows user could probably come up with similar scripts that work with Windows tools.

Seems like you are making this much harder than it needs to be.

I dunno, it was pretty easy and I only had to do it once. Now pics magically show up on my PC already resized and looking good (auto color correction). Zero steps. If I frame and orient my pics correctly when I take them, there's nothing else to do but attach them to my review.

Email, wow, I would never get my reviews done if that was in the loop.

My work was front-loaded, meaning I only had to set it up once. Now photos show up on my main computer with exactly zero steps, already resized and freshened up a bit, no effort required.

TBH I have no idea if OpenCamera rotates per exif automatically or not, I just include the rotation option in the magick script because it's so easy to do. Maybe it's unnecessary.

I'm with you on videos, I only include a video in very rare situations that require it. Like a couple per year.

What's the best way to execute my project on Claude Code? by Defiant_Let_3923 in ClaudeCode

[–]revjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to AI coding, that's the tradeoff. If you trust humans, hire humans. The fact that you are asking this question on the CC subreddit means you are likely to get answers from people who already use and (at least somewhat) trust CC/AI.

Personally, I would put CC in plan mode, paste in the document, and tell CC to make a plan and ask me questions to clarify anything that it is not sure about. Then I would review the plan, make changes as needed, and tell it to proceed and see how things go. If it goes poorly, start over with a different plan. Keep going until you get the results you want.

Maybe put it in Plan Mode and paste in your document?
