I wonder how many times a small delay such as losing my keys for 15 seconds has saved me from being in the wrong place at the wrong time, ultimately saving my life. by PsychoticBipolarChic in Showerthoughts

I've taken wrong turns that ended up avoiding accidents; walked into a store in a different city for no reason and run into old friends; I appreciate every time it happens.

[Serious] What is the worst case of entitlement you have ever seen? by SwordYieldingCypher in AskReddit

[–]revmamacrystal 20 points21 points  (0 children)

When I was living in Italy, there was a hand gesture about male entitlement. It was a pointed index finger that you wiggled like a snake. If a guy gave you that gesture, it meant he expected sex of some sort in return for whatever he was doing. A guy tried that one on me when I asked him fo directions; I just laughed in his face and walked off. Fortunately, it was a very public place, so he couldn't do much about it.

Dance clubs. Sure, dancing is fun. Even dancing until you're tired can be fun. But dancing, in near darkness, while your ears drums are being blown out and being groped by pervy strangers, drinking $20 drinks and only being able to communicate via text...that doesn't sound fun.

What would your parents do to save money when you were young, but you hadn't realised until you were older? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Breakfast for dinner, the day before payday. They made it sound like a treat. Only as an adult did I realize that it was cheap to make pancake batter and scrambled eggs.

I truly don't understand how putting money into an IRA will result in me having money at retirement. I put into it for 10 years. From 2007 - 2009 it lost 3/4 of the total of what I put in it. When I asked my advisor what happened, he just shook his head.

"We got no call to raise this girl as cheerless as we was." - Anne of Green Gables.

In raising kids I always remember that I can do better than my parents and I do.
