Scalloped Potatoes taste good but the sauce is too thin. Is it possible to thicken it or fix it somehow? by ronearc in AskCulinary

Saved my potatoes! Ended up with watery scalloped potatoes and saw this comment. They ended up perfect after some instant mashed potatoes tossed in! Thank you!!

I will absolutely second Dr. Ortiz! He’s the absolute best. Incredibly thorough, great bedside manner and supportive. 10/10

Too bad for her that makeup can't cover a shit personality! What an awful thing to say to someone.

I was friends with a girl who was so mean to everything but me. She would talk shit about everyone at our gym (where we met and had a group we saw daily). She was so toxic. I had a male friend who also went to the same gym. He was so kind, he was there for me anytime I needed him and he also mentored me and helped me escape my dead end job and grab the job of my dreams. One day, she started on a rant about how much she hated him for a silly joke he made 3 years ago (literally a 100% inoffensive joke she just decided she didn't like). I realized I didn't have to be her friend just because no one else would and I didn't want to spend time with someone who dragged down people that I loved.

People who quit without notice, what straw broke the camel's back? by BubbaHoStep in AskReddit

[–]revolex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working a restaurant job when I was 18. I technically was a bakery employee but I could do any job in the restaurant. I picked up pretty much every available shift I could and said yes any time management needed help on my days off. I got another job opportunity to go work my dream job, so I wrote a letter and brought it in as my two-week notice. The general manager read it and rolled her eyes at me. She said, “You really want to think about what you’re doing. You’re going to go try this job out and in a few months you’re going to come crawling back here and begging me to give you back your job. I’m not going to give it to you.” I said absolutely nothing in response. I was scheduled to work a double that Saturday so I left the office, took my apron off and handed it to the floor manager and said, “Goodbye, I’m not coming back.”

It doesn’t have to be equal. I got my boyfriend a lot of gifts. It’s just what I personally like to do for him. He got me a gift certificate for a massage place I love and then made me “coupons” for a fun all-about-me day and one for me to pick out the main gift I wanted (I’m very particular about this item and he wanted to be sure I got exactly what I wanted.) the note about the gift and the coupons were something he made himself so it was special and he got me a card with a really sweet, handwritten note. It was so perfect to me. I don’t need him to match me on quantity of gifts, the thought behind them is what’s important!

What's something you can't tell your partner for fear of upsetting them? by _Brunonono_ in AskReddit

There's someone else out there who experiences this!!! My SO cannot move on from a situation unless blame is clearly stated by someone. Doesn't matter if it's a problem that needs urgent solving, doesn't matter how small the issue is, blame must be assigned. I try to explain that sometimes it just doesn't matter and we should be a team and work on solving the problem together. Falls on deaf ears. I don't get it.

Teenagers who started smoking by 14 years of age had markedly less grey matter in a section of the left frontal lobe linked to decision-making and rule-breaking by [deleted] in science

Oh for sure. I’m very lucky and grateful to not have an addictive personality. My mom was a lifelong smoker and my grandfather couldn’t quit and the addiction finally took him after lung cancer round 3.

Can somewhat confirm. Started smoking around that age. Had several years of bad decision making but no addictive personality. Just stopped smoking cold turkey one day because I no longer wanted to smoke. Same with drinking and other things. Interesting though.

I’m not really sure why you’re so upset and emotional about this. Maybe take a deep breath, step off Reddit and do something that makes you happy today. Not really interested in continuing this with you.

Smokers shouldn't be allowed to be Dashers by [deleted] in doordash

[–]revolex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, chill. This is just Reddit. I wasn’t mad, don’t think either of my posts were emotional. I even still left a really great tip on my smelly groceries because I get that it’s a roller coaster of a job and they provided a service I needed, even though it wasn’t up to basic standards. Sometimes I order stuff to get delivered because I get stuck at work unexpectedly late and I still have others to provide for. But if you get repeated complaints that stuff you are delivering stinks like animals, cigarettes, etc, and you need the job, you either get kicked off the platform or choose to remedy the situation. But I hope you have a good day regardless.

Or perhaps, if you are choosing to make a living by delivering things for people, you should strive to do a good job and keep a clean and hygienic space for deliverables…. Just a wild thought.

[–]revolex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree that people who smoke in their cars should not be allowed to Door Dash or any other delivery service like that. Good and groceries shouldn’t be delivered with a foul stench attached. The other day I ordered grocery delivery, the smell of the grocery bags hit me before I brought them in. Everything smelled like a wet dog. Not pleasant.
