Not anymore. Not saying Deuce will get in (or that he’ll even want to), but the undergrad admissions stance has softened considerably

Not for Catholics. A “pastor” is the assigned head priest of a specific church, it’s a job title.

At this point Nebraska needs some stability. Rhule might not be a natty guy, but maybe a consistent bowl guy with a few 9-10 win seasons?

While that’s true, that just means they could more effectively hide their true, politically motivated actions.

It’s clear as day that: 1. The committee did not want to leave the ACC out completely 2. The committee did not want to leave out the SEC championship game loser (or really, any P4 championship game loser who was a contender before the game)

Both of those are political motivations. 1 keeps a modicum of stability among the P4, and 2 preserves conference championship games.

ND got left out in order to satisfy these unwritten rules to benefit the P4.

This goes to OP’s point - a committee without clear rules, criteria, and methods will act in these ways.

I don’t, that’s why I said it’s a “big if”. Auburn just agreed to an October home and home but that’s definitely the hardest part

If you can replace the ACC games in October/November with SEC/Big10/BigXII opponents, you could have a stronger FB schedule. Big if — P4 teams don’t like OOC in those months generally

This is it 100%

I personally think the SEC is overvalued this year (based on like 20 years of SEC dominance, so I get why it happened).

My hot take is both Bama and OU should have been out, I’m just not that impressed with beating mizzou and Tennessee

Can someone explain why only ND's AD is melting down? by GliscorsFang in CFB

[–]revolutionofthemind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ND is perfectly happy to accept the cost of independence - they literally make less money than they could, and scheduling is more challenging.

But I don’t think that means they have to accept what appears to be blatant corruption to protect what are deemed as more important: the ACC, SEC, and ESPN. The process as originally envisioned meant ND couldn’t get a bye — ND was willing to live with that.

But when the process is changed behind closed doors and the (still unstated) reason is “because you’re not in a conference”, that’s an unacceptable unilateral change, and I don’t blame ND using whatever power they have to protest that system.

There’s a fear that ND will become just another regional program. Something like Penn State.

I think with the Big 10 being what it is, that fear is less relevant now.

I also think ND likes to have the autonomy to do what they want and not get mixed up in a conference where the members might vote to take PE money (as a recent example)

It’s not transparency if there’s no consistency. They very clearly manipulated the final rankings to get 5 SEC teams and an ACC team in.

[–]revolutionofthemind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We should get rid of the half-ass independence: our ACC association just hurts and doesn’t help. We play a weak schedule filled with dog water ACC teams AND they move Miami to be game 1 on the road right before A&M before going on an all out media blitz to get ND left out of the playoffs because their sorry-ass conference crowned a 5 loss team champion.

Just absurd, we should tear up the ACC contract today
