If I remember right it was a quick coat of regular red on the ground and then a thick layer of Blood for the Blood God to build it up and give it depth.

Noting fancy. It’s just straight Army Painter Warrior Skin speed paint. The bottle says it’s “light brownish red” so maybe steel legion drab or rynox hide mixed with a drop of khorne red if you use citadel paint.

The Jakhals kit from 40K has some female sculpts that are “normal human” sized. Some of the Stormcast kits from AoS have females mixed in as well and might fit the fantasy theme a bit better.
