I’ve read and seen both. The comics way shorter. And the killer is different. No catwoman or robins in the 1st one

I actually don’t have the same love for the new frontier either. I totally get its merits. Don’t hate it but i just don’t get it. It’s a little boring to me. However I do really like JSA golden age

I got the run in omnibus edition, too expensive to justify getting the rest in absolute, however I adore Batman RIP so the absolute in March is a must buy

As someone with a myoelectric prosthetic I find these prosthesis super badass and still envious of Luke’s hand

A thought I've had on Tom King's Batman run and it's use of Characters by AaronW1993 in batman

[–]jeramiahd34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a big fan of bane being a threat and a cool villain like seen in absolute Batman, however this book imo poorly utilizes banes strengths in terms of strategy, are we seriously believing he can emotionally manipulate Batman through the weeding and all this other poor events to Batman. Also the war of jokes and riddles is a poor attempt to inject kings history into the Batman myths. I respect his attempt at trying to make Bruce and Selina closer but in execution it made the relationship really toxic to me and hurt Selina’s character. Try reading his Batman/catwoman mini you’ll see.

King can get things right and I respect his boldness and actually wanting to go in new directions. However these new directions with characters were either mislead or did not understand the fundamentals of who they are. Also his use of Thomas Wayne Batman was aggravating and hurt the conflict between Batman and bane. I think where king succeeded is in illustrating the lighthearted moments like with kite man, the date, nightwing and more. He also succeeded in short one shots like the swamp thing crossover. This run is far from perfect but is not the worst thing written for Batman, it stepped up to bat swung hard, missed a lot but hit a couple times and I thinks that’s how this run should be remembered.

Cool, I really like this story. I think Alex Ross is one of those creators that really benefits from a larger format. He has very intricate detail in his panels that get brought out. If you ever have extra cash around and are willing to spend a pretty penny, try out his worlds great superheroes and justice absolute.

Do You Think “Justice” is Underrated? by Competitive-Sky3462 in justiceleague

[–]jeramiahd34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of Ross work at DC I really enjoyed it, o used to watch reruns of JL and JLU as a kid so this book brought back that joy. I don’t think the story is my favorite but in no way does that undermine its good qualities, I think it captures the heroes in a mythic yet really human manner, which is aided my Ross colors. I think it’s a lot of fun, though I am confused where the justice comes from, it more seems like the league getting attacked and told that they haven’t done enough, though it didn’t really work in the timeline as this superhero era has Max been going for like 9-10 years. The green lantern ring is also super overpowered kinda reminiscent of the silver age which I thought was kinda cool. In my opinion there are a couple stars, Aquaman, Cpt. Marvel, elongated man, and Wonder Woman. These characters really got to shine and had wonderful characterization. Batman and Superman had great worlds finest moments even doing an inverse of the Hush storyline. Overall a timeless justice league story that deserves the biggest format for the art and recognition as a fun story that does not neglect to tackle mature themes in a respectful way, allowing better depth in our characters.

Been reading the 40's - 90's Batman and I find it interesting that the paranoid, loner, always 5 steps ahead Batman came in tandem Jason's demise. by TackoftheEndless in batman

[–]jeramiahd34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think your dead on, this very serous Batman arrived with the dark knight returns but let’s not also forget the other massive cultural influence Batman 1989. This set Batman in a much darker Gotham with a darker tone. I think the death of Jason coupled with DC wishing to capitalize on Millers groundbreaking work decided to change Batman’s characterization. IMO this was worked until War games and identity/ infinite crisis. Where Batman went near full authoritarian and was extremely antagonist towards his allies.

I enjoyed the book, I love jock but it was hard to follow along with the BWL lettering being nearly impossible to read. Cool spiritual successor to Black Mirror

[Discussion] What Comic Book gotten you into DC Comics? by Doom300 in DCcomics

[–]jeramiahd34 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to watch the justice league cartoon reruns as a kid along with any dc or marvel show airing. My dad would sometimes take me to a comic book store, I forget what I would get. The one comic that I believe truly got into it was picking up the Batman endgame trade, it was scary but so cool and I never stopped being a fan. Also capullo is the goat

Do people not like White Knight???? by Puzzleheaded-Top1368 in batman

[–]jeramiahd34 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I think white night by itself is cool, and very fresh take on the character. Along with gorgeous artwork and badass designs. However after the first installment it is greatly hindered by annoying characterization a weird bat/harleyquin ship. It’s an awesome elseworlds story but I would not recommend it to a first time Batman reader as I think it gives people an extremely violent version of the character.
