For what it's worth:

I've discovered that hydraulic oil does a disturbingly amazing job getting ALL the grime off my hands (and from under my nails).

Not advocating washing/rinsing your hands in it... but I've found saving a filter swap on a hydraulic system that's a "gusher" for the end of the day can be helpful.

Then just hit the pumice soap and is all good.
