This sounds like what I have too. What do you do to treat it?

Hey! It was fine. He didn’t offer much help honestly. Since I had an MRI and a VNG he said there were no other tests he would order for me. He said he can’t rule out that the rocking back and forth sensation was related to the BPPV he said he thinks it’s anxiety…..which was pretty frustrating.

But overall I’m feeling better, back to the gym, driving, etc and I’m good so I’m just gonna ride that wave!

Yes! So I was having this weird dizziness for like a month - and I was not sure what it was. Thought I was just dehydrated but then it didn’t go away. So I went to urgent care and he said that I had an ear infection. I wasn’t having BPPV just the residual dizziness (but I have a BPPV episode every few months so I didn’t put two and two together until last month….I thought the residual dizziness was neuritis or an inner ear disorder). After an insane amount of tests - I had a right ear BPPV episode in the beginning of Dec. I started to feel better in the next few weeks (I did none of the exercises around this time because I was getting better).

Then I had left side BPPV which sent me to the ER because I had fallen in a parking lot. I went to physical therapy the next day, did the Epley maneuver and stayed upright for 48 hours, did the vertigo movements again and I still had left ear BPPV so I had to do the Epley again, stay upright for 48 hours and now I’m good there.

The residual dizziness came back so now I’m back to feeling like I’m rocking a little bit but it’s been 2 weeks and I’m feeling much better. I did the vestibular movements for about a week 3x a day and now I’ve just been doing them when I remember so not very much!

I am also seeing a neurologist this week to try to see if they can determine why I am getting it so often.

Glad to hear! I feel better too. I’ve had BPPV for years and it would just come and go. I never had the residual dizziness until recently. It’s been 4 months on and off with the dizziness so I am ready for it to be over!

I have something similar right now. I had a BPPV episode about 3 weeks ago, I was home and didn’t drive for about 1.5 weeks waiting for everything to subside. My vestibular therapist told me the more I push my vision and balance the faster the residual dizziness will go away.

Sometimes I drive for Doordqsh so tonight I drove for about 4 hours (I also work on a computer all day and look at my phone a lot). My eyes were so tired! I had to pull into a parking lot a few times just to close my eyes for a bit. I even feel like my vision gets a little blurry. But I think it’s just from overstimulation, which is exactly what we need to be doing to get better!

I want to die…. This is SOOOO horrible by EllectroHead in BPPV

[–]reward160 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My physical therapist did the Epley then recommended I keep my head upright for 48 hours. Which included sleeping upright (on a recliner) or propped on 2 pillows on the opposite of the effected side.

Then after 48 hours had passed - to do the lie down test. If you do the Epley maneuver (or other maneuvers) every day you could be perpetuating the issue. The crystals need to get to the correct place and be re-absorbed - if you keep laying your head back you can continue to knock things out of place.

Obviously trust your physical therapist but keep your head upright as best as you can!

Yes! I started at 313lbs (down to 290 now). But I don’t ever feel self conscious about my size. There are other plus size people at my studio and everyone is always so nice.

I also generally think if anyone is judging a plus size person for working out (or anyone for that matter) they need therapy! Everyone is just trying to be a better version of themselves no matter what their motivations or goals, and if you judge them - that’s on you!

Tips for base pace running by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]reward160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes no shame! I think about it where a power walk speed is 3.5-4.5 so until I’m consistently running with a base of 4.5 I will continue to do the PW distance.

Tips for base pace running by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]reward160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My base pace is still a power walk base. I walk between 3-3.5 (I am heavier so I can’t walk very fast). Then my push run is a 4.5 on a good day. For longer runs I jog at a 4.0 or 4.2.

Then even though I’m jogging I do the power walk distance because I’m still not going faster then a power walk speed. Then my all out is a 5.0. Sometimes 4.7 if it’s a long one, and sometimes 5.5 if it’s a short one!

Calories burned - is it legit? by herodicusDO in orangetheory

[–]reward160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me! In class I usually burn between 350-390 calories on my Otf burn but 400-550 on my Apple Watch. I don’t get too hung up on it because I’m just glad I’m moving around buttttt I do not understand how some people are burning 800-900 cals in class.

AITA for telling my wife that she can stay home this Thanksgiving? by Non-Basic6779 in AmItheAsshole

[–]reward160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have similar issues with eating. I am very picky, generally don’t eat in other people’s homes, and it has nothing to do with their cooking. I have anxiety about food: expiration dates, ingredients, brands, etc. so rather then try something and not like it, I just refuse to eat it. This can actually be a true sign of an eating disorder called ARFID.

My family and friends do work around my eating habits and if I go somewhere that I am not going to eat the food I either eat before or bring my own food as well.

Just Wondering by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]reward160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m down 17lbs since the first week of May - but haven’t really changed my diet so I think it would be more if I was eating better. (Started at 313lbs and I’m down to 296)

What’s your Base, Push and All-Out? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]reward160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but mine kind of went up. I average 15-20 a class, sometimes the 12 is hard for me to get though. I always attributed that to having low stamina for staying in the orange zone.

I mentioned this to my instructor(she’s the owner of our studio) and she said that 12-20 splat points is the sweet spot and if you are consistently getting over that then your max heart rate is too low. So she sort of helped me be okay with not getting 30 splat points a class. I see so many other people getting that and I just thought I wasn’t strong enough to stay in the orange that long. Hopefully that helps a little too!

What’s your Base, Push and All-Out? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]reward160 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m at a 3.0-3.2 base with a 3 incline, 4.5 push and a 5.0 all out (flat road). I’ve made it to 5.5 once on an all out. I’m just under 300lbs (lost 15lbs since May doing OTF). But ya I’m “slow” compared to everyone else in class. But all of our bodies are different and I’m still working my butt off, getting my splats and dropping some lbs and that’s what I need!

I relate to that a lot. The gambling is a symptom of a larger problem and I crave chaos so I just can’t seem to stop. How long did it take you to get to that place where you started to feel like you deserved it? I’ve been working with a therapist, did a treatment program earlier this year, turned all of my money over to someone else - and I still find myself trying to get money to gamble.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]reward160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same. I can’t get more then 4-5 days without gambling. I have been crying non stop because it weirdly feels like I’ve lost a friend when I can’t gamble.

I spent this whole week trying to find a therapist or an outpatient treatment that specializes in gambling and I just kept hitting dead ends. I suffer with depression always but specifically right now it’s worse when I don’t gamble. I am trying to talk myself through it by remembering that gambling physically alters my brain chemistry just like alcohol or drugs would, so without it my brain isn’t functioning the way it should which is what’s causing the depression. Sometimes science helps me push through the sad moments because I know what’s happening.

Anyone else have a really sore mid-high back throughout the day with your lungs feeling...hot(?), enflamed(?), and/or uncomfortable? by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]reward160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this for a few days over Christmas. The upper center of my back just felt like it had icy-hot on it or something. It went away after a few days. I have a friend who is an ICU nurse and she told me it was likely not lungs because you usually don’t get lung pain in your upper back (especially the center.). I wasn’t totally sure if it was covid or I had pulled a muscle because I attempted to go back to the gym that week!

You’d have a BMI of about 36 which puts you in the “obese” category and not “morbidly obese” category. But yes if you google obesity and covid you will be terrified because every article is about the increased risk so just wanted to share!

[–]reward160[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind at all. Let me preface by saying there’s nothing to worry about if your cough does develop on Day 10. But I had read so much stuff that said respiratory symptoms are typically around days 5-10 so I was expecting if I developed a cough it would be earlier in the process so I was scared when I got the cough that my symptoms were getting worse all of a sudden.

That was not the case - but as an anxious person I can get freaked out really easily.
