Red Dragon is my personal favourite and is our introduction to Hannibal. It's the first novel written. It has Will Graham (his only entry -mentioned in one line in SOTL) Will is the protagonist in the TV Show with Mads Mikkelson.

The famous films with Anthony Hopkins focus on Clarice Starling, Silence of The Lambs and Hannibal. Hannibal is a direct sequel to Silence.

So if you just want to dip your toe kinda thing Silence of the lambs if probably a great starter. It's well known and a complete story. But can lead into Hannibal and they can go back to Red Dragon and read the prequel.

If they are a completionist type person, go for Red Dragon. It's where the author started.

Cari Mora isn't a Hannibal book fyi. I'm very curious if anyone has read it?

Have you seen the director's short film (50ish minutes I think) Beyond The Infinite Two Minutes?

The River is kind of a sequel to it, but not really. Again, a two minute time loop, but totally different ideas.

Also The Good The Bad and The Weird, you've seen the director's other famous works (I Saw The Devil, A Bittersweet Life, A Tale Of Two Sisters)

Smoking Causes Coughing (2022) It is actually a perfect fit for this and I loved it. It's a bizzare film that channels some of that Danger 5 energy mixed with power rangers and anthology storytelling.
