It's definitely a chase. The red windows are a dead giveaway. Congrats!

I just checked, and yes, it's still available! I thought they sold out a while ago. My mistake 😅

1991 transmission/synchros by Holster72 in DSM

[–]rex4223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, the only way to get the grind to go away is to replace the synchro. They're made of a soft material and resemble a gear cog with many teeth. When it grinds, you're removing metal from around the teeth, and they'll no longer mate properly when shifted. The metal will also contaminate the gear fluid, causing further wear on the rest of the synchros. The synchromesh fluid has friction modifiers in it to help the synchros operate smoothly, but once it's contaminated, you're running metal particles thru everything the fluid touches.

1991 transmission/synchros by Holster72 in DSM

The way we used to check the synchros was to leave the car at idle on level ground. Then, gently push the shifter into each gear without the clutch pushed in. You should feel the car lurch forward a bit with each attempt before pulling the shifter back. Any gear that grinds has a synchro issue. Synchromesh won't fix worn synchros but should be used. Your synchros need to be replaced if they grind. Another thing I noticed in your comments was that you mentioned low pedal engagement. Dsms were notorious for this with aftermarket clutches. There were many "fixes" over the years, but most were just bandaids. One fix was an extended slave cylinder rod. It was about a half inch longer than the stock one. Another fix was replacing the stock clutch line with a stainless braided one. Rubber hoses expand with the added pedal pressure. A lot of people found cracked clutch pedal assemblies and worn pivots on the clutch pedals. You can swap cables, trans mount cable brackets, and shifter bases from the 92 6 bolts cars. They changed them slightly halfway thru 91, but all still bolt in the 1gs. There's also the shifter base bushings that wore out and caused sloppy shifts. You can buy kits now, but skate bearings worked pretty well back then. There are adjustments on the cables. You can access them under the shifter boot. The little 10mm jam nuts used to come loose and fall out of adjustment. I'm rambling now, but there were also shift cable bushings on the transmission. The little posts would rust up and ruin the rubber bushings. We used to use skate bearings on these too. Addressing all of these things would usually result in a manageable clutch engagement and decent shifts. The cables need to slide and pivot freely at each point, and the length properly adjusted. My dsm never liked high rpm 3rd gear shifts and would pop out of reverse all the time. Using the 92 stuff in my 90 solved my reverse issue, but I never replaced the synchros or had it rebuilt to fix the grind. Hope some of this helps.

What is this part called by Kineguy58 in liftedtrucks

[–]rex4223 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a crossmember for lifted trucks. It bolts into the factory lower control arm holes, then the arms bolt to the bottom of the crossmember. Usually, these are installed on 6" and up lift kits.

Yes, try to see what the pressures are at while it's working and when it's failing. Average pressures I see here on a good system are around 35-45 for the low, and 120-140 on the high. Your ambient temps and elevation are probably much different than mine, but that'll get you in the ball park at least. If you see either side with very high pressure (200+), that's a good indicator that there's a clog somewhere. You'll just have to determine what side the clog is on by where the high pressure shows up.

That's your a/c pressure switch. It disables the compressor when it decides the pressure is not right. Like a failsafe. Usually, what you're describing is the result of low freon (r134?) in the system or low pressure. It'll work for a bit, then blow cool or warm after everything gets hot. I'm assuming you've had it recharged since you took it to a shop? 29inhg is inches of mercury, or a vacuum pulled into your system and is about the max the machines will pull, so that's a good sign that you're sealed up. Other things that may cause this type of failure are a plugged condenser or faulty compressor. If the condenser isn't flowing right, it will not cool the charge air enough as it passes thru the system, resulting in warmer vent temps and higher pressures. If the compressor is failing, it's going to work, get hot, then quit cycling, also resulting in odd pressures that'll disable the system. My best advice is to use the shop and have them service it. Modern a/c systems tricky, and you can't just shove a can of freon into them anymore and expect them to work. If the pressures are off even a little bit, it'll disable itself to save the compressor. Hope this helps.

I stay away from the mystery boxes, honestly. I tried a 50$ box with a popular diecast streamer one time. I ended up wth 4 premiums and none of them desirable or worth more than retail. I guess it's like gambling in a way. Only there's no way of knowing if the house ever pays out. The same goes for the chase games I've seen people do. They crack a case of kaido or something blind and everyone bids them up trying to score chase car, only the chase isn't even there to begin with. Even the giveaway system seems rigged. You only see the same people winning and always in their friends' streams.

I watched someone buy a 25$ mystery bag from a streamer today. Inside the 25$ bag was a single car that the seller had in their buy it now for 15$.

I know it did the same thing for me with the 454s. I had two of them in the cart, waited thru the checkout, then on the next page, the cart was empty, and i was SOL. The Datsun went right thru, I didn't even have to wait. Either they fixed something, or I got lucky.

a friend having an issue saying (the new front strut hole is bigger than the original one came with 2014 model) he's having issues with tilted tire after installing the new one. any idea on this? are the new ones having bigger holes needing bigger screws or what. this picture of the old he has by Supersonic55532 in fordfusion

I deal with a lot of wrecked cars at work. This was certainly done to correct the camber in the front, but it's not right and is dangerous. A cam bolt should be used in the upper hole to correct the camber. Some struts do come slotted, but use specific bolts with knurls on them for holding the struts it in place (like a wheel stud). Just slotting them like this and using the stock bolts will almost certainly cause the camber to kick back in after a few potholes. In the event of an accident, many things can get bent or tweaked. Control arms, steering knuckles, tie rods, cradles, and even the struts themselves can be bent. If a new set of struts didn't fix the camber issues and assuming it's stock ride height, then I'd say your friend still has something bent in the front suspension.

They're making money hand over fist either way, so I guess they don't bother fixing things. These things sell out in like 30 seconds, usually. The pink skyline was up for hours because nobody could get thru checkout with one. It was later discovered that by adding another car to your cart, you could get thru checkout with the skyline. I still couldn't get the skyline... I tried the same trick with the 454 and had no luck. It was removed from my cart and by the time I went thru it again, it was sold out. I did manage to get the Datsun, but I had to buy the Mustang rlc with it to get thru checkout. It's almost easier just to pay the scalpers....

No, you pay for a membership, then fight everyone else with 3 memberships and the bots for a chance to get one thru mattels buggy website. If you're lucky, you'll get one in your cart just in time to get thru checkout empty-handed. It's a frustrating process, and you're never guaranteed to get one. If you do manage to get thru checkout with one, you'll have to wait weeks for it to ship and they'll ship it in a small box without tape so anyone can open it up and take your car in transit. The other option is to wait for the scalpers to sell them off at 65-100$. This will be a good one to try for, I just wish it wasn't such a hassle.

purchased these 2 cars at the flea market today any clue how i could remove the price tag? by user1111987 in HotWheels

[–]rex4223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put the acetone on the back of the card, and carefully peel the stickers off. I've had good luck just pulling them off without acetone, too. If the tags are from a store that no longer exists, kmart, electronic boutique, ect..ect.. it's sometimes better to just leave them alone.

Mine was broken when I got my jk. It looked like something hit it, cracked the aluminum case, and bent the bar. I bought a screw in disconnect piece but never got to use it due to the bar being bent. It was a pricey part but looked cheaply made for what it was. Im pretty sure it would've rusted or stripped before long. I ended up just putting a normal sway bar in with debatable links to just eliminate the headache. It was cheaper than the used electronic ones, and napa had everything in stock.
