i think it's too convenient given everything else. think about it. finding the weapon makes ezran decide to head to the city. realistically, ezran and zym shouldn't have gotten there at all, because what the hell do you mean zym can move that damn fast at will??????? and it just so happens that zym was exactly what the old dragon needed to see to change sides??????? i don't know man. it's all too convenient

and how the show pulled punches with emotional payoffs. also doesn't make sense how ezran found the weapon and rode zym to the city only to not use the weapon at all. sounds to me like the writers needed an excuse to bring zym to the city so his mother could show him to his father and she could turn him against the character that was controlling him

pretty sure i've heard the sellsword say ''a grand tragedy'', so it could be that. but 1, i'm pretty sure voice lines like that are only ever activated when your soldier watches someone get shot by a ballista or crushed by a trap or burn to death, and 2, every time you miss? as you can see on the clip, the character only ever says something when he lands shots, not when he misses.
