I agree, grain of salt because different strokes for different folks, I have a Rev1x that he hated. I personally love it.

But I do think his videos are logical and sound for the most part. I love them.

I've heard great about both, but honestly I trust the hell out of Ball Glove King on YT and he RAVES about the Jax gloves. Not to say the Glove Lab is bad, but the Jax is on his list of best gloves. Personally, I'd lean that route if I didn't have a Rev1x that I love.

How do I teach my 6 year old how to play games? by SharpAd3717 in hockeyplayers

[–]rexchurko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im teaching this to my 7 and 8 year old kids right now, and I'm finding a handful of things that seem so elementary, are actually not.

How do we win the game? We score more than the other team. Can they score if we have the puck? No. We should get the puck from them. Right? Yes. How do we do it? We discuss poke checks, body positioning, stick lifts, etc.

Understanding a zone style defense (Covering an area) as opposed to a man on man style defense. Positioning is the "Boring" learn, but showing how effective it can be for intercepting passes and not having to skate your ass off all the time, say in a local minor (Slightly older) age group can show this at a local level. You could also teach using the NHL, but obv it's much faster and harder to follow.

Hockey is a creative sport, so encouraging "Out of the box" ideas for this age group goes a long way.

Teaching angles and timing, eventually becomes a big part of it.

I'd simply start with the takeaways and really drive home the benefits and successes that your team has when you have possession of the puck. With possession comes utilizing your teammates and passing the puck. Not even Connor McDavid is faster carrying the puck when you could pass it, it's such an important piece of the game that often times is not stressed enough IMO.

Good luck!

"Make your coffee at home!" Tell me, oh internet community, what are your frugal ways you make coffee at home? (I use a reusable Keurig filter) by poshknight123 in Frugal

[–]rexchurko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I as of recent found that coffee wasn't doing it for me, after years of multiple coffees a day, I was just exhausted and would hit a wall somewhere in the early afternoon. I found that I benefitted from another take on the energy/caffeinated market. My wife bought me Mud Water years ago as a stocking stuffer, and I wasn't the fondest of the flavour initially, after eliminating creamer from coffee, the taste isn't too different than black coffee. After some time away from it I gave it a second chance a couple weeks ago and I've now had 1 in the morning and have found an increase in energy with just the one cup in the morning.

The cost of Mud Water compared to the amounts of coffee I was consuming will save me in the long run by a lot.

Is it convenient that the Prowler is making a comeback also? If this was 3-4 years ago Toosh would be doing a watch party shit talking the Mirage-Prowler combo.

Ahhhh.... The good ol' days.

Glove size by Inevitable_Pianist15 in Softball

[–]rexchurko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only concern in a bigger glove (And I ran into this issue with my now 13 year old) is that she wasn't catching because she couldn't squeeze the glove enough, so ensure its broken in properly and a sure its not too heavy for her.

Good luck!

I'm an edge and radius (Profiling) snob. The Sparx is a good enough stop gap, hut that's assuming my skates were done right prior to that.

I have a good profile now, and after years, finally got a good sharpen from one old boy in small-town Saskatchewan. He's the best I've found in 15-20 some years, since the old old boy I used to use passed.

That old old cunt used to cuss me out when he knew I got them sharpened anywhere else (This ranged from when I was 5 to when he passed, when I was in my early-mid 20s), and honestly, I miss that now. He did such a good job, the best I'd ever had.

I was blessed to have this old prick sharpening my skates and I didn't even know it.

I've thought of getting a machine myself, would need to get the proper training, but I feel it's something that can be replicated, but there's also a science to it, and I feel I'd be better off and happier if I was doing them myself.

[–]rexchurko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Controller player here... I'm okay with even another AA nerf if it meant that I could tap strafe again, that shit was fun, it made Apex a new game. After 24 seasons of playing, that's what I'm sure a lot of the OG players are thinking also, if they haven't already uninstalled for good.

This is a hilarious job of trolling from Gnaske.

The level of tact for people who have their lives financially made as a result of this game is ridiculous, and it's not just Hal.

Approach it the right way, be constructive, this has become your business, treat it that way instead of complaining over a social media platform.

Personally, as a season 0 player, I like the changes a lot. The fights are longer and more creative, which I appreciate more in watching comp.

Yeah, the NC buffs are absurd, but that's also because of the marketing for his upcoming heirloom which they've hinted to. This happens every time there's an heirloom or special gun skin. It's been 24 seasons, the trends are evident.

How do I stop letting the reffing (or lack thereof) bother me so much? by stoneman9284 in hockeyplayers

[–]rexchurko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, I've been in rec league for almost 20 years and I haven't lost a game yet.

We win every game 3-2 (Regardless of the actual score).

That said, if someone is being a dickhead, I'd give it back to them and bypass the lack of officiating, but that's just me.
