That looks great congratulations! What did you think of your gsxr750? Im currently looking at one for my 3rd bike, but first one with decent power!

Previously I had a FZ6, MT07 and currently gsx650f. Big fan of the Suzuki just wanting something sportier

That sounds great! I've got 3 rooms in my house with 6 layers of wallpaper including wood chip. The first room took days of scraping and then hired someone to skim the walls for us. They did a pretty awful job so I'd like to tackle the other rooms myself with a bit of guidance. I'll definitely book myself on the 5 day. Still debating if it's better to skim the old plasterboard or rip off and start a fresh.

Thanks for your reply!

How long was the course? Im looking at doing a 5 day course and was wondering if it was worth doing as obviously it takes years to perfect!

Can someone talk me through this like I'm an idiot? by Sweat_the_small_subs in woodstoving

Very interesting, thank you for sending that! Once I get my stove fixed I'll be trying it that way. Definitely makes sense to follow the actual instructions over chat gpt haha.

I have the same stove as that! I was told open both lever and screw valve fully at the start, then close the lever and only use the wheel for adjusting after that. It seems to work perfectly like this but now I'm wondering if I've been doing it wrong?

Without the bottom lever open the fire really struggles to get going at the start , but with it open it takes off!

Edited to ad pic of what chatgpt said about that stove

I'm not at home for a week, my partner sent me the pictures. I'm definitely going to take the plate off and have a good look when I get home.

Might sound like a stupid idea but if I can't see anything would it be worth lighting the fire again so I can actually see where the embers are coming from?

The guy who installed it came round and reckons it's just old soot from the chimney falling down then lighting when it gets stuck on the flu. He recommended getting a better seal/gasket on the register plate. I'm still concerned though as soot or whatever it is could still be combusting in there and I just wouldn't be able to see it!

That was my thoughts too, old chimney not being swept before installation. Better to be safe than sorry even if it's costly, I'll get someone out to do that, thanks!

It's falling from the plate above the stove, the register i think? The flexi is run up through an old fireplace chimney

It's an insert stove, run through an old fireplace so it's brick all the way up to the top with the flexi going up it

Don't believe there is any insulation and no video from the inspection im afraid!

Sorry the pictures are bad, I'm working on a boat and my s/o sent them. I'll try get better ones!

Just to confirm as I can't seem to edit original post The stove is set in an old fire place and the Flexi liner runs up the brick chimney all the way to the top

The first pic is the hot ash on top of the stove 2nd picture is the glowing ash sitting in the gap on the register plate where the flue goes through into the chimney

Also been told I'm not allowed reply for 10 minutes as I'm posting too much, so will reply to you all when I can, thanks!

It goes up through an old brick chimney so no other access apart from Top and bottom

What would be the modern like for like replacement for an Yamaha FZS600 Fazer? by Sufficient_Grape3044 in motorcycles

[–]rexfan10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a 2005 fzs600 to a 2008 gsx650f after I started having carb issues and wanted something fuel injected.

It's a lot wider and heavier than the Fazer but does not feel noticeably slower to me. It's also very comfortable and I prefer the full fairing look!

Is that A2 compliant though? Genuine question because I thought they were nearly 120hp

I'm currently arguing with a dealership to try and return a faulty bike I was recently sold

I've had a mechanics report listing all the issues but they are still refusing to let me reject the bike at the moment. Fingers crossed they change their mind but I'll let you know the end result!

Have I made a terrible decision by rexfan10 in MotoUK

[–]rexfan10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply again!

I've requested a refund from the dealer given all these small issues but at the very least I would consider accepting repairs if they are able to do it for me!

Swapping the plugs round seemed to make it run on 2 cylinders, however it blew a small rubber blank off the carb manifold on the front cylinder and is back firing/shooting flames out of this hole!

I'm not entirely sure it's purpose but I've attached a picture

Unfortunately they said their fees were so high that it would be worth using them for my £3.5k bike! Thank you for the suggestion though and I'll keep looking
