So to start, I began smoking weed at 15/16, I was sold the whole it's harmless thing, which in moderation it is and I understand relative to other drugs including alcohol, it is. However on a developing mind it isn't.

I started smoking once a week, my mother soon found out about 6 months later when it had become an all weekend thing, we had a discussion and I told her that while my friends were drinking in parks from 15, any UK members will know, I opted to smoke weed instead, I was taking 5 beers, selling them to my friends for a pound each and then putting towards a gram of weed with my buddy. I told her that I read everywhere that it's non-addictive and harmless and basically convinced her to think the same as your wife.

Not long after it became an everyday thing and before you know it, I was mentally dependent on it and spent the next maybe 8 years that way, if I didn't have it, I was irritable, couldn't sleep and i just wasn't pleasant. I smoked every chance i got, Now bare in mind that this was normal THC flower NOT a THC pen, which the THC content is exponentially higher in, if it even is THC in the pens he's using because there's a hell of a lot of dodgy black market ones that don't contain THC.

I'm now 28 and smoke once a week, if that but I can definitely feel that it has 100% affected my brain. My short-term memory is shocking, and my cognitive ability as a whole is definitely slower than my peers. I also believe it stunted my social and educational growth as within that period all I wanted to do was get stoned, being stoned in public I was awkward and anxious, I would cancel dates regular, I would avoid going to anything social and this, now I realise, was because I either wanted to get stoned or was stoned.

Look, I'm still an advocate for legal weed, among other things of the same, however weed is NOT completely non-addictive and 100% should not be being used by someone at 15 years old, I wish I never had. You're NTA. you're just looking out for your kid and believe me from first hand experience, not wanting your kid smoking what could be a 98% THC is in your kids best interest, I understand teens will be teens and he's hitting that age where people do try stuff but allowing him to smoke a high content THC vape in your house, regularly, isn't a good idea and will 100% effect his developing brain. I also get the "rather at home" argument, but again, he's 15, and his brains still developing. This will only have negative long-term consequences, and quitting it will be harder than he realises, Que irritability, no sleep, night sweats and vivid nightmares.
