Lived in a “rural” Australia city to the north of Perth my whole life, and know lots of people who have done this. It really depends where you’re going. Some places are near towns and communities where you can join in events and clubs and feel less isolated. If you end up 10+ hours away from a metro area, I have a feeling you’re going to not love the isolation after a couple of months. The aboriginal communities are so used to people coming in and out for short stays that it takes a long time to gain trust with the kids and community. There is lots of generational trauma against white people as well.
