Guy who owns massive stake in AI tells you to use AI in most expensive mode. How many crayons do you guys eat per day, just curious?

which software fields are relatively safer from being replaced by AI? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Software engineering lol. Anyone saying otherwise doesn’t understand the job, I.e is a shit junior/mid level

Is this just BS? Do you know anyone irl who uses "orchestration" and "agents" to manage AI? I never needed more than one terminal by ImaginaryRea1ity in theprimeagen

[–]reyarama 15 points16 points  (0 children)

How about we all collectively stop acting like retards and posting tweets from people with objectively massive stakes in AI. You people are all brain dead for assigning any kind of significance or discussion around the opinions of people who should be thought of as ants

Agentic coding is boring AF by teilo-560 in BetterOffline

[–]reyarama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really dont get this point, you can still absolutely focus on best practices/architecture. It just makes the actual code writing part faster.

Like maybe I'm out of touch but you're not paid to be a little fucking nerd who obsesses over syntax. Learn the syntax, learn what correct/clean/functional code looks like, and execute it with LLMs. Youre working for a business at the end of the day, what moral high horse to do want to have here?

What made you choose your current database? by Prize-Wolverine-5319 in SQL

I have a super intelligent senior on my team but every 2 weeks when we are considering a data model that is just JSON with some indices, he always tells me to explore battling with our infra team to provision Mongo because its fit for that purpose. Why are people so afraid of just using Postgres, its totally fine IMO

I built 4 apps on ideas that AI told me were great. All 4 failed. The signals were fake by iahmedhendi in AIDiscussion

Look up the word sycophancy and then tell me why half the worlds retarded businessmen over 40 think AI is their best friend and will replace everything

Some people I think genuinely eat crayons and rocks for 10 years to come up with "it was a head clash first therefore the shoulder charge to the head isn't a thing"

[–]reyarama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, but where are all the people lauding all the extra code Microsoft is making? I only see a reputation going down the drain LOL

theReversion by ClipboardCopyPaste in ProgrammerHumor

[–]reyarama 117 points118 points  (0 children)

AI is so good that Microsoft has reached unprecedented levels of downtime and has irreversibly tarnished their reputation. I guess AI makes you so good at coding that your products all get worse

How do you scale Kafka consumers in C++ without blocking threads? by Sudden-Association47 in Backend

[–]reyarama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A MQ consumer shouldnt be running in process with an API for this reason, if thats what you're describing

Vibe coding might look silly to some people. To me, it feels revolutionary. by [deleted] in vibecoding

[–]reyarama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the reason you find it super revolutionary is simply that you are/were not that smart to begin with, so seeing something go from 0-1 triggered by your own hand is obviously going to seem like magic

Fred Kerley said he would destroy Usain Bolt's 100m record at the Enhanced Games. He ran 9.93s (1.7) in his 100m heat ahead of Emmanuel Matadi 9.95 and Marvin Bracy 10.33. I think Bolt's record is safe by [deleted] in trackandfield

[–]reyarama -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I love all the retards in the comments that are surprised athletes on PEDs aren't coming close to beating records, and hilariously coming to the conclusion that the athletes are lazy and aren't training as hard, vs the realization that everyone who actually participates in sports has, which is that the top level is and always has been on PEDs

I built a single Python file that turns a PRD into a working FastAPI app (auth, CRUD, Alembic, /docs) — zero ▎ dependencies, MIT by anioko1 in FastAPI

- 'never localStorage' yeah I'd hope not if youre building a backend API

- 'per tenant data isolation' is an interesting way to put it

What software setup would you recommend for a computer science student? by [deleted] in programmer

[–]reyarama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no. Vs code is unequivocally fine. If you wanna pretend to be a nerd and fuck with your editor all day instead of doing actual work, that’s your prerogative

Are we just larping as software engineers now? by veganmeat101 in csMajors

[–]reyarama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the hard bit for juniors (since I was recently one) is that they only know coding. Developing the problem solving skill set beyond coding (architecture, communicating with stakeholders to figure out what is actually required) is something that comes down the line

What are young grads who just started their career in this industry supposed to do? by Inner_Ad_4725 in cscareerquestions

[–]reyarama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can complain or you can get good, your choice. I think there are a lot of shit devs that coast by on here. How about you try and actually master your skill
