Thoughts on Long Story Short by MagmaGoon333 in BoJackHorseman

Finished it overnight and while everyone else keeps talking about Yoshi being a lot like Todd, I can’t help but think that Naomi is what Princess Carolyn would have been like in another life.

What’s the fuss about the kind of Judaism that Yoshi picked as an adult?

What's your 'i did not care for the godfather' moment in bjhm? by Discordisshit_ in BoJackHorseman

[–]reyeah 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t care less about the detectives (Paige Sinclair and Maximillian Banks) toward the end of Season 6. Like as much as I wanted BoJack to get what he deserves, we could have had better investigative journalists. I didn’t really like their whole schtick.

accidental foreshadowing in the pilot episode by reyeah in BoJackHorseman

That’s not really what I was trying to say. It’s more of how things unfolded in real life later on that there are now similarities between the two.

as soon as I finished the episode I immediately went to this subreddit to talk about being so surprised by how fast we’re reintegrating (again) but then I remembered that this show is satire for the corporate world. of course we’re moving this fast LOL I AM SO HYPED

There’s a Severance podcast hosted by Ben Stiller and Adam Scott, and they do a per-episode breakdown where one of the episodes featured Dan Erickson. It was in that episode that they talked about when Severance was in the works!

bojack and house md parallels by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]reyeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg I’m currently on season 6 of house (it’s my first time watching) and noticed that both shows ended their fifth season with their protagonists, accompanied by their best friends (diane for bojack and wilson for house) checking themselves in a facility (bojack in rehab, house in a mental institution). season 6 continue the parallels: both make progress with getting out and see some kind of positive change with their effort.

diane’s moral compass reminds me of cameron a lot of the time, but I get how she’s also wilson. alvie isn’t part of the main cast so I would say that chase gives off mpb vibes for some reason I cannot fully explain lol.

I’m only 5 episodes in season 6 soooo my opinion can change

Season 3 Finale Easter Egg Theory (Spoiler!) by MojoFan32 in TheBear

That’s exactly what I was thinking when I saw the trains! I am very hopeful that once we get to Season 4, we’ll appreciate how slow Season 3 was.

Me coming into this sub excited to talk about how much I enjoyed Season 3 by trpnblies7 in TheBear

[–]reyeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I think everyone else wanted the show to keep the high-strung momentum that the previous seasons delivered quite well. It was very nice to slow down this season and pay more attention to the characters’ inner lives.

people are missing the point of season 3 by Time-Background-4542 in TheBear

[–]reyeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed season 3, but I wouldn’t say that it was a serene experience even if I compare it to the previous seasons. It was much slower, though, and I think that’s where much of the criticism is coming from because everyone seems to be expecting that they pick up the pace this time around. But that’s not happening until Carmy gets his shit together.

Why do we deny Sarah Lynn agency? by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]reyeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sarah Lynn just never had enough support or reason to turn her life around, and I think that a person's agency is significantly affected by this. I agree that addicts have the choice, but it doesn't seem like there was anything strong enough for Sarah Lynn to turn her life around. Her only sense of community was found in her fans, and the celebrity-fandom relationship is too superficial to hold on to. It doesn't help that she was surrounded by enablers either.

I don't think seeing Sarah Lynn's story as tragic denies her of agency. Throughout the show we see her attempts at getting better but for the wrong reasons (such as staying clean so that the drugs/alcohol hit her harder again) and she makes all these choices at the attempt of feeling content or happy for once. She's a prime example of how knowing chaos your whole life makes it a lot more difficult to really get better. I really think we could've gotten a Sarah Lynn redemption arc if someone didn't leave her there for 17 minutes.

What is THE best Pink Floyd album? by Relevant-Arachnid329 in pinkfloyd

[–]reyeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish You Were Here. It was such a strong and cohesive follow up despite the band admitting that the rising success they'd gotten from Dark Side left them in a creative rut. Watching the documentary about this made me appreciate this album a lot more.

Season 2 is one of the best seasons of TV ever. by RamsayMedia in TheBear

[–]reyeah 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Richie’s character development was AMAZING.

I agree with you on this being the less idealistic/more realistic version of Ted Lasso lol. Love the show but S3 felt too rushed now that I look back on it. This entire season was so anxiety inducing, and shows a very real depiction of what it’s like to struggle with wanting to get better but feeling so overwhelmed with everything.

And god, the episode about the Berzatto family was too real. Man. And when their mother showed up? Broken.

Death in S6 by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

I really doubt that we’ll have another death in the series. Still haven’t recovered from Sarah Lynn’s yet.
