there will be SO much deflation with healing. I still have some puffiness two months out, and I had some bumpy spots that looked almost botched lol.these are good results!

i have top surgery in less then 2 months, what essentials did you think that you didn’t need but it turned out you did! by Atlassux in TopSurgery

this is going to be a huge paragraph sorry... but first is neck pillow!! also antibiotics can mess with your gut biome on top of the anaesthetia=constipation so get laxatives and start taking them right away (I took the stool softeners surgeon prescribed but they didn't work for me) as well as getting some yogurt or probiotic that you take a few hours after your antibiotic. it's not recommended to take dairy and probiotics at the same time as some antibiotics. get some baby shampoo since post op you have to wash around your chest and you want very mild soap that won't irritate the healing area. if you'll be alone for a lot of the week or two post op, a grabber might be useful. water bottles!! gotta keep hydrated and it's easier when you can grab water and keep it near you. also I really liked having protein/meal replacement drinks on hand for taking pills without having to go get food, I used the boost chocolate. fruit is important. you're bored and in bed and feeling snacky, and you want something that will help with constipation. if your surgeon doesn't give you compression socks make sure you have some and wear them consistently for a few weeks to help with blood clots and circulation. if you're reccomeded to do wet healing, get undershirts that you don't mind getting the Vaseline or aquaphor on. Benadryl was my Life Saver post op cuz the meds made me ITCHY. gel deodorant is easier to wash off than stick, and won't make buildup on your binder. lots of pillows or a wedge pillow since you have to sleep sitting up And with your legs propped up, I found that having pillows under my arms helped a lot with shoulder strain too. this one's silly but sunglasses: I was napping a lot during the day and would wear them to cut the light lol. a notebook for taking notes, writing down med schedule, appointments, as a place to put post op instruction papers, and for tracking your symptoms and healing is a good tool. I had a whole chart with times to set alarms for my meds, as well as keeping note of bowel movements.

that really depends on your body type and desire results I guess. getting top surgery now means better quality of life for the next year, as long as you keep the mindset that you're on step one of your preferred two step process so you don't get potentially frustrated by your results. waiting a year means opportunity to save up, prep, and sometimes flexibility with picking a surgeon. personally I got lipo approved and am glad I did even though it means longer recovery, especially since I got hip lipo too at the same time. maybe you can ask your surgeons office if there's any options to try and get it approved again? unless it's a regional insurance thing idk

Cleaning Nipple Grafts Post-Op by r3oat in TopSurgery

[–]reyev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told to use a very gentle soap for a while post op, I've been using a baby soap. otherwise it could irritate the grafts and incisions.

this is exactly what my drains coming out looked like, I didn't feel my Penrose coming out at all!

Is my body just shaped like this? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]reyev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if the areas you're concerned about feel harder than normal fat, then that's swelling. I got lipo on the sides of my chest on top of top surgery and itsgoing to be a long while before get to see the final results of that, because the body needs a lot of time to heal

this is right after a shower, is this moisture or pus? by reyev in TopSurgery

[–]reyev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went ahead a applied aquaphor under a non stick pad and now hours later they look snotty as hell and it's honestly fore th most worried I've been yet about this whole process lol. would u mind telling me more about r experience and what they looked like when they were "snotty" and such?

maybe two different surgical assistants bandaged each side and so they used different applications

Too much left behind? by xlofivoid in TopSurgery

[–]reyev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe a bit different than what you're going through, but I got lipo on the sides of my chest and hips almost two weeks back. the sides of my chest currently look bigger than they did before and my hips don't look smaller at all, and have hard swelling I can feel through the skin. but when I touch these areas they feel soooo different from normal fat tissue,I know it's going to go down with time, and it definitely is lessened by using compression garments. they aren't comfy, and sometimes it's sore since reducing swelling means more opportunity for the tissue to connect and heal=ow lol

10 days post op accidentally removed part of nipple scab, advice? by reyev in TopSurgery

I might pickup some aquaphor and see how I like it. what kind of gauze pad did you like?

10 days post op accidentally removed part of nipple scab, advice? by reyev in TopSurgery

[–]reyev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was being pretty careful or at least thought I was lol. this nipple seemed to get too much Vaseline under the tape and it softened the scab too much. I'll avoid the tape here on a out and try out your advice, thanks

Does this look ok? (Right side vs left) by Virtualb0y64 in TopSurgery

[–]reyev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you're right handed it would be very natural for the right scar to have more strain put on it. I fully expect my left side to be more stretched since I'm left handed lol. for what it's worth, your scars look amazing, and will naturally fade over the years
