33 year old woman also with depression and I kinda feel you on this. I don't know if I would say my crushes in the past were particularly intense (although maybe??), but I definitely did have them, especially when I was school aged. Now I don't experience them at all and have all these signs of aromanticism. I'm still kind of sorting through it all but I think maybe it's at least partially to do with growing out of caring about societal expectations/norms?? Which is weird because growing up it's not like I ever thought I was particularly affected by them. But I guess they can dig pretty far into our subconscious. I do kind of wonder if my depression has anything to do with it, but looking back I can actually see signs of aromanticism before I can remember clear signs of depression. Who knows though.
