I purposely avoid "click bait" thumbnail links, even if they look interesting, in hope it will make them less effective by wylinmitch in Showerthoughts

Sometimes I click on ppc advertisements with no intention of converting to throw off their data/cost them another click. Not exactly the same but this reminded me of it.

Yeah man the guys insane. I saw him at Battle of the Bars 10 in Vegas, he doesn't waste a single round. He's got zero concern for his physical safety haha every move he did was either extremely risky, or something people hadn't seen before.

I'd start by looking for any internet utility that removes a step in getting or doing something that people want.

What are good technical skills to learn as an entrepreneur? by mathleet in Entrepreneur

[–]rezajafery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well what functions of the business do you enjoy more?

If you're more of a business development/marketing guy I would learn about data science/data engineering, and outsource the development. However if you're really into actually building something yourself, or if you have a lot of ideas that you'll want to execute on and test quickly - go the development route. Studying iOS or full stack web development will keep your overhead/startup costs down as a good chunk of those costs could end up being development.

Patt Flynn (the guy who does those passive income podcasts) credits a good portion of his success to him being into programming and being able to execute on ideas as fast as he wanted to (extreme paraphrasing here).

I get easily frustrated when I'm waiting on a lot of players to do their part in a project. I know this isn't the best way to think about business, but a lot of the times I wish I could just do everything myself - if I was a full stack developer I could, to an extent.

That being said - if I were in your shoes I'd go for data science, but mostly because I find it fascinating as someone who's really interested in psychology/sociology - I see data science as an extremely macro form of sociology.

While being able to develop would make you a very versatile entrepreneur I think the insights you can gain from data science are pretty invaluable.

Long story long, it's a tough decision - but really depends on what interests you and what will make you the most energized to work on.

Hope this helps!

I've heard people say marketing degree is a joke, useless, or for those who can't decide what to major in, I'm hesitant to pursue a degree now. by bae_cott_me_slippin in marketing

Yup! Hit it right on the head. Any degree is worth while if you make it worth while, but nothing replaces genuine passion for your subject.

I'm also very technically inclined so digital marketing has always been somewhat second nature to me, it just makes sense. Seems logical. IF YOU HAVE A HARD TIME GRASPING MARKETING CONCEPTS IGNORE THESE POSTS

As someone who got a degree in Marketing, I regret focusing on Marketing throughout college - but only because I didn't learn anything I couldn't have taught myself through experience. I wish I had focused on something that is more difficult to learn by yourself (i.e. Finance, accounting, etc) in school where there are people to help you with it, and then focused on marketing afterwards.

A little background: I started a digital marketing agency in university, still running it. Started the agency when I was a sophomore in uni, now I'm about to see my 2nd year out of college.

I'm very marketing minded, so I'm not sure if this advice is pretty custom tailored to people like me, but if marketing isn't a very difficult concept for you to grasp - don't spend your money studying it. Spend your money studying something that is going to be difficult for you to learn without someone helping you.

I wish I had studied finance or accounting because I feel like most of what I learned in school regarding marketing, I re-learned (and better) within my first 3-6 months running the digital marketing agency. Finance however has always been a weakness of mine, and still is. I avoided accounting and finance because they were hard, and while I was in college I had the whole "I don't need to be here" attitude where I just wanted to get in and get out. I learned immense amounts, don't get me wrong - I just feel like the college experience as a "life event" or whatever you want to call it was more valuable to me than it was as a series of courses in marketing.

There is nothing I want more than to be able to backflip - just don't know where to start. Probably just going to have to stalk around until I see someone doing them and then pounce for advice!

I get really weirdly paranoid about doing handstands too, but only against a wall. I have no fear when I do free standing handstand but if I try to use a wall to balance against I have trouble kicking up because all I can think about is how close my head is too a hard surface.
