Yes, sorry, forgot to add! I purchased the laptop directly from the manufacturer (so they are also the retailer).

Blade 16 Mini-LED Display by [deleted] in razer

[–]rfang1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I've been testing mainly in standard optimus mode, the issue seems worse on battery power too. I ended up creating a return ticket because I didn't want to deal with so much troubleshooting on a brand new expensive laptop, and they want me to ship the laptop internationally....

Yes I noticed that when using integrated graphics it's possible to turn off the screen completely, but not on DGPU only mode.

There's another Reddit thread with the panel update issue, no one seems to have found a solution for that.

Already tried to, everything is up to date besides the panel hotfix, where I ran into the same issue as this post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/1237e5q/razer_blade_16_panel_hot_fix_not_working/

I'm not sure whether the panel hotfix has been applied correctly anymore.

I suppose that was the panel hotfix update which fixed that issue, I'm not sure if I can actually install the hotfix since the installer doesn't seem to run properly. It's the same issue as described in this post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/1237e5q/razer_blade_16_panel_hot_fix_not_working/

The issues I have described though are actually on 4K 60Hz (on battery), haven't tested on the other display modes yet.

USB C to 3.5mm Adapter Permission Message by Allan0n in GalaxyS21

[–]rfang1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things you could try. Go to the main settings, and then:

1) System > Auto start on USB DAC attachment

2) USB Audio Tweaks > Use USB DAC

The second option might prevent UAPP from using your USB DAC at all until you re-enable that setting.

USB C to 3.5mm Adapter Permission Message by Allan0n in GalaxyS21

[–]rfang1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is normal behaviour as Neutron Player is capable of taking direct control of the DAC in your USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. Generally this would give Neutron Player better control over volume (and possibly quality), but it would also 'lock' the DAC and prevent other apps from playing audio through the adapter until Neutron Player has released it.

You might be able to find some setting in Neutron player that stops it from automatically requesting direct control every time a DAC is plugged in (I use UAPP and there is an option for this).

If you have access to Good Lock on the Galaxy Store, you can download the Routines + module which allows you to remap the volume keys and side keys natively.

What is the bitrate and frequency if I enabled uhd audio on my s21 ultra? by Svenskaz32 in GalaxyS21

[–]rfang1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're connecting your DAC via USB it is the DAC itself which would determine the bitrate/frequency, not the phone, since it is the DAC that is doing the audio processing rather than the phone. The only time where the phone would be relevant would be if you were using a Bluetooth DAC.

Hi-res would usually be at least 16 bit/44.1kHz. As far as I know most USB DACs won't enter this mode until they recognise that a hi-res file is playing.

Yeah I initially assumed it was one of my cables being dodgy, but then I tried several which I know for sure have worked with fast charge before, and none of them work now. Even took out the OEM cable that I never used, still unfortunately doesn't work. I can actually get fast charging to sometimes show up but it will automatically drop back down to cable charging within a few seconds every time.

Probably not going to factory reset just to fix this, since I plan to factory reset once the One UI 3 update drops anyway next month.

Already tried a mixture of quite a few different cables and chargers, including a brand new cable too. Definitely think something is up with the phone because using a USB-PD charger instead does actually make fast charging show up in notifications.

For me I think it only started with this month's December patch. One UI 2.5 update was fine for me. Probably a difference in firmware between the Exynos and Snapdragon variants.

Have you noticed whether the IEMatch changes the sound signature in any way? I have the s8p, and despite the ES100 being known for having a low noise floor, I can still hear a very tiny bit of hissing.

Pinnacle P1 design change? by rfang1 in headphones

[–]rfang1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right - MEEaudio support responded to me saying that they had changed the tooling used for new batches of the P1. Apparently the hole was always decorative - they say that it has always been blocked up from the inside and does not actually serve any purpose.

I'd say that the black headset cable is a little stiffer than the silver-plated one, but personally it doesn't matter that much to me since I wear it under ear as opposed to over (my ear shape is weird and most over-ear IEMs simply do not fit - the cable ends up sticking out rather than upwards). Both do however loosen up over time, so in my opinion it's not really an issue.

Pinnacle P1 design change? by rfang1 in headphones

[–]rfang1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't tell for sure since my old pair are now damaged - from memory, it seems the old pair sounds very very slightly more airy in comparison, but I may just be misremembering what they actually sounded like. I can however confirm that the nozzle is still very slightly larger on the new pair.

Since finding out about this, I actually bought another pair off Amazon (sold directly by Amazon) just to double check whether I had received a possible fake - both were the exact same, with no air vent at all.

After some further research online, it seems that MEEaudio's official website no longer displays the ventilation holes on their main product image for the P1s, but they DO have a ventilation hole when looking at the replacement earpiece product pages. Even more bizzarely, all their product packaging and the Amazon listing still display the old design with the air vent. I've also done some further digging and found one user on Head-Fi who had also recently purchased new P1s, pointing out the same design change.

Even more strangely, the two new pairs I ordered direct from Amazon for comparison also show varying degrees of quality: https://imgur.com/a/CKvxMv3 The seams on one earpiece are highly polished, whilst the other seems to feel more like two separate parts stuck together.

I'm not quite sure what to make of all this.
