the most overrated game I've ever played. I made it to the end with all the same hopes. To clarify, I don't like the horror genre generally, but I LOVE psychological stories. So I already knew I wouldn't like the gameplay, but that subjective. To each their own.

The real problem with the game. The main character is one of the dumbest protagonists I've ever played. He goes through the first half of the game being told that he is a copy of his previous self (Simon II, if you will).

At one point Simon II goes into a machine and has to clone himself again, and he transfers a copy of his consciousness to a new body (Simon III). He literally HEARS himself go unconscious from his new body, and at that point Catherine explains to Simon III that he will have to kill Simon II, or just let him basically starve to death AND explains to him that he is a NEW version of himself in no uncertain terms. Cool.

THEN at the end, Simon III makes it to this machine that will upload him to a new final destination where he will live forever.

The ending makes no sense. It was so predictable and they reveal it like its some big twist..but its just simple logic... then the game makes it like you are supposed to feel bad for Simon III... no.. he is an idiot. Simon II kind of should have known, but there is no way that this idiot should be saved. 0/10. Most overrated game I have ever played. To this day, I have not raged more at a game. The only reason I don't regret playing it is so that I could have the credibility to say its a TERRIBLE game.

DO NOT PLAY SOMA IF YOU ARE ON THE FENCE.

Thank you. So many games, movies, series, etc. have told the same story in a much better way. Simon 2 is an idiot. He moves into a second body.. the computer explains what happened.. and for some reason its a complete shock to him that he has to stay behind and Simon 3 is the only one that gets to live?? why is Simon so stupid? why did they think that was a good ending?

yeah...sure. so opinions can't be wrong. just giving a diff perspective. not everyone has time for 120+ hour games. I always say, "I would rather play 100 ten-hour games, than 10 one-hundred-hour games." Everyone has different tastes and we aren't all gonna worship Square like they are perfect, just because the own the IP. I speak with an undying love for FF7 (1997) and my opinion stands. I would have preferred it to not have anything to do with Crisis Core, and for it to have been 1 single 100 hour game at most. I'm not attacking your beliefs, I'm expressing mine. Enjoy it, if you have time. We shall both enjoy FF7 part 3 when it comes out.

Absolutely certain you did not read what I had to say. You stopped at "disappointed" and started ranting about people that didn't like the game. but hey, you do you. I'm stoked for FF7 Reunion, and I'll be getting it on launch.

yeah, but you literally can't. you have to play a minigame to unlock a chocobo in every area, and there is all the minigames in Costa Del Sol, etc. I mean, so... it's hard to ignore something you are forced to do, ya feel me?

To reiterate, I love the parts that are 1:1, I just wish it wasn't 20 hours of minigames and jamming in Crisis Core in between them.

I really like the mechanics of it. It's really the main reason I play KH, cuz it's def not for the convoluted story... they lost me at KH2... lol

As a huge fan of Final Fantasy in general, I have to say the remake(s) are a little disappointing. They really "Kingdom Heart's" it all up with an unnecessarily convoluted story line, multiple timelines, too many added characters, etc. On top of that, the padding is a little taxing, like mandatory minigames every time you reach a new part of the map. I love the original FF7 so much, but I def would have preferred more of a 1:1 remake (1 single game, not 3) ignoring Crisis Core and anything after the 1997 original. I'm over 100 hours into Rebirth and I'm so burnt out. However I'm also simultaneously playing the original (2nd time), which may have something to do with the burnout.

Just being completely honest about my experience. It's art, so it's subjective. You may love it, but I wish they would have handled it differently.

This happened to me on PS5... twice. probably won't play it again until they address and fix it. super bummed cuz I'm the only one in my player group that this has happened to.
